I had no idea where Nixon died, but I was pretty sure he was the only president born in California.
I must have had the Houdini/Halloween connection somewhere deep in my brain, but I have no recollection of learning that fact. OTOH, I totally should have nailed The Remains of the Day and Clara Bow, but I blanked on both.

Now there's something I did not know.
I knew Nixon was born in CA but could not recall his NY death, and guessed he died close to home.
So I looked for someone else and made the same mistake I believe the champ made: Hoover, known for connections to Stanford, was not born there (Iowa, it turns out).
I started the week with three straight FJ gets, then booted the last two to go 3-for-5 yet again (now 7 times in the last 8 weeks). Helluva rut.

No, but the second part will most likely no longer apply to Nixon after Obama dies.
The J Facebook page was too upset over Roseanne being canceled to worry about the implementation that Obama was born in Hawaii. Or else birthers don’t watch Jeopardy.
Another Hoover because of the strong Stanford connection here. Considered Nixon, but Palo Alto's farther west, so I outfoxed myself. In any other context, if you'd asked me for Hoover's birth state, I'd have guessed Iowa (and I'd have been right).
When that clue about lutefisk came up I decided I would post in here about the amazing number of items from my current TD ring that have turned up on Jeopardy in the same time period.
