Assuming it’s referring to Bosworth.
that is what i was thinking, which then led me to do a search...still haven't found a brian boswell yet
 You can quit looking

I abhor college football and basketball and I think I can name a maximum of 4 football players by their college. It was indeed Brian BOSWORTH, and I only know him for two things - he had a fake job scandal at OU, and in his brief, overhyped NFL career he was absolutely pancaked by Bo Jackson (probably a Monday Night Football game). No, I can't name Bo Jackson's school. Joe Montana/ND, check. Steve Owens/OU, check (a street named after him locally). Rod Smith/ Missouri Southern,(my alma mater), check. That's all I can pull.

I will take my sheep + 5 with apologies for the inconvenience. Someone had to mess up the 100% singleton question. This must be the cheapest wrong answer!

For the first time in the ring, we are going out of order, because I want to finish with an aural about New York City instead of some lame question about North Carolina.

918 - OKLAHOMA

You know how to do Before and After. Combine two clues into an overlapping answer. Example: Current supreme court justice who wrote the Declaration of Independence: Clarence Thomas Jefferson.
  • What Oklahoma panhandle leads to a lurid form of card playing?
  • What WaPo columnist never met a man he didn't like?
  • What substance also known as nacre was appointed ambassador to Luxembourg under Truman and was parodied in a Broadway show starring Ethel Merman?
  • Who reminds everyone that orange juice isn't just for breakfast anymore, but can still be quaffed while hosting the Today Show?
  • Who fooled around and fell in love and led the fight against apartheid as an Anglican priest?
  • Who graduated from being Opie and Richie but had trouble living down the Spruce Goose?
  • Who is frequently in the tabloids along with Angelina and pulls over to have tires changed in the middle of the race?
  • What "Odd Couple" television actor was also a quarterback for the Eagles and Vikings?
  • What Yankees legend only rarely signed autographs but looks great over the fireplace?
  • Who was pursued relentlessly by Inspector Javert and served as UN ambassador under Reagan?

INCORRECT - 14

AFRET CMS (Cimarron strip poker)
I don't know whether or not this would be considered a credible reference:

"The Oklahoma Panhandle is the extreme northwestern region of the state of Oklahoma, consisting of Cimarron County, Texas County, and Beaver County, from west to east. Its name comes from the similarity of its shape to the handle of a cooking pan. Until 1890, the place was called Cimarron Territory or Cimarron Strip and existed as a virtually ungoverned U.S. territory for several decades. It was sometimes called No Man's Land, with a reputation for lawlessness and vigilante activity."

After doing terribly in the first half of the ring, somehow managed to end up in lucky #13!

Thank you so much for putting all of these TD’s together! They’ve been difficult, but a fun challenge. Can’t imagine how much work was put into them

Thanks very much for putting this ring together. I found the jboard too late to participate in the full ring (and would have been mid-pack-ish at the best), but it's been quite a trip!

And, ---- Major Props for the ending on the last question!!!! I'll say no more
Florida Gator - I'm resorting to quoting myself just to repeat how funny it was to get rickrolled at the end of your elaborate diversionary tactic involving hundreds of images and media bits, research into questions, scoring and bookkeeping, etc.., and WOW! I always jump into these as soon as I can, but I didn't want to blow the surprise ending!

These were entertaining, enlightening, educational, and really fun. Serious players could go for the marathon slog, and us casual observers could catch a few singletons to go with our wrong answers. Thanks so much, and take a well deserved break while you scheme up your next epic TD!
