When I noticed all three players were wrong Tuesday, I guessed I was too, but I was surprised none of them missed with Poland. I was nervous about the Netherlands because of Anne Frank.

Give me any word, and I'll tell you what letter it starts with. Too bad that they usually ask the other way.

Not especially pertinent but nevertheless....I don't have the quote handy, but Edmund Wilson said of HBS that the best evidence for her claim that Uncle Tom's Cabin was "written by God" was the fact that all her other novels were so clearly written by Stowe herself.

P.S. I also wasn't helped or hindered by any inane commentary accompanying the clue reveals.

The Who (minus Keith Moon) and CostCo; neither with any confidence.

I should have gotten OSHA but my mind went blank on what the H stood for.

I read The Joy Luck Club for 11th grade, and may have watched the movie in class.
Had not heard of Westerbork (or the peace palace, for that matter), but thinking of early EU countries and countries occupied by Nazi Germany left a short list and I went with the Netherlands, thinking of Anne Frank.
Never bought anything from QVC.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

Not sure if I'd heard of Westerbork. I haven't read or seen The Joy Luck Club, but I used to do a lot of crossword puzzles.

Another Costco.

France (thought of Netherlands but had no strong feelings on it)
blank (Somehow didn't think of Crosby, Stills, and Nash or I'd have said that)
True Value (If I'd thought of QVC, I'd have gone with that. But I think I could've sat on this clue for a week without thinking of them.)

I notice 3 boardies so far admit to having made a purchase from QVC. But no one's fessing up in the discussion and telling us what they bought.

No joy or luck for me, either in print or movie form.

Westerbork is clearly a made-up town in the Game of Thrones universe.

Well I’m one of the three. I bought clothes and shoes. I have very big feet, and when I was flipping channels I saw that they had my size. I have also bought some clothes too as they always had good quality merchandise.

Pretty boring stuff

Not my finest FJ week, and I don't think more time would have helped with any of these misses...except Lafayette, needed another second on that one...

I bought a couple "My Pillows" from QVC (on behalf of Santa) when they were running some kind of 2 for 1 deal. Even so, it was a pretty pricey purchase for us, and I felt like a sucker--until we actually used them. The V for Value came through in the end, because those bad boys are amazing!

If I have heard of Westerbork, it wouldn’t have helped me
Best Buy on Friday

My experience with QVC is almost exclusively connected to the “NFL Team Shop” that used to air immediately before Monday Night Football. I was too young to order anything, but my mom did order several things for me, including official game programs for Super Bowls XXIX through XXXI.
