Presidents are another thing that I've found no way to get to stick in my brain. I could probably give at least a vague idea when most of them were in office unless it's one of the obscure ones like Polk.
But then again my brain can't even keep four of the eight planets straight...

Landed on TR and felt pretty confident - confident enough not to go looking around for anyone else. Even if I thought about Truman, I didn't really know when McKinley died in 1901. To have it come down to a difference of a few months made this a lot tougher than it seemed.
I was a little surprised that Lauren missed an easy DD - get that one right with some bigger wagers and she might have lived for another day. But, Wes played a good game too, so congrats to him.
And was vanilla candles really a $1000 clue??? I wonder what other vanilla-scented items the writers thought people might have in their homes!

I didn't need no stinking list! I read the clue and immediately glommed onto Truman. If I had bothered to remember Teddy Roosevelt I might have been swayed to change, but I knew FDR didn't last very long at all into his fourth term, making Truman the only guy I even considered.
Yeah, Wes had a very good, very plausible wrong answer. Ray, uh, not so much. I'm pretty sure Garfield didn't last seven months, let alone seven years.
And Wes gets my vote for knowing how to wager from second place and avoid throwing away a win the way so many have. Good on you, man!
I was my usual, predictable 0-for-5 in the pop culture category (Boys in the Band), so what else is new? And I missed a crapload of clues in the first round, not even WAGGING but thinking they were actually correct answers. That was humbling. Managed to reconstitute somewhat, but still far from my best game.
Sorry to see Lauren go, after figuring she would be around for a while.

There's a HOMES Brewery in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
From the brewery's website:
What does "HOMES" mean?
It's meaningful to us in several ways, but mainly it's the great lakes acronym (Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, Superior). To which you respond either: "I knew it!" or "Ohhhh... I've never heard that before".

Coryat: 40,000
48 R/1 W
DD: 3/3
FJ:
LT: ketchup, debate, Mobile Strike, Briggs & Stratton, Delaware (DD), high seas
I started with Tyler, then moved to Teddy, considered Arthur, but stuck with Teddy. I eliminated Coolidge and LBJ more or less instantly, but somehow Truman never came to mind.
