Well, to be fair, there were child sacrifices to Baal as well. It's just that Baal doesn't fit the Nethack part of the clue, which is something I wouldn't have known since even when I did play, I never got that far.

I was a hair's width away from typing 'mew mew' for that
 That's worth the negative points! I definitely would have if I was that clever. I'm resigned to not learning that so I can remember where my car keys are at :)

If I knew yesterday what I know today (*cough* that I don't know pasta *cough*) I'd've done it
Also, it's a Thor 2 reference...but I'll forgive you for thinking I'm that clever as no one saw it anyway
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.

I've been reading through 1 and 2 Kings lately, where Moloch is mentioned on more than one occasion as the idol to whom children are sacrificed.

Moloch was the correct response to the question about firstborn sacrifice. It was only after I posted that I realized Baal would be negbait. My apologies.

I know there's a lot of discussion here, but is there any place where "the official, correct responses" are actually listed?

The correct responses are added to each thread in the fourth post (that begins by saying "Answers will go here") about 48 hours after that day goes live. (Once the scores are posted, some players reverse-engineer the correct responses by looking for who got a perfecto on that day and checking their post.)

Well, pretty sure I got the 12 pointer wrong for R1D4. In my defense, I have a talent for mis-hearing song lyrics.

It's cold comfort to learn that I'm not the only player today to misspell "Hoochie Koo."

Latched on to bugaboo but could not convince myself that it was also a Dutch company. Goodbye easy six points.

If only there was a Destiny's Child reference also included in that question, I may have pulled out the answer. CLAM-oo was about as far as I got.

I only knew Espoo because Leslie Shannon was introduced in the BotD as being from there.

In other news, I mixed up Joe Namath and Joe Montana, just because I thought Joe Montana would be the obvious choice for the lowest valued clue. I may not know much about sports, but if I had done the math on the Super Bowls listed for the 4-point clue, I would have recognized they were too late for Namath.

Over/under 65% correct spellings? For the record, I got Hoochie right (this is possibly the silliest thing I've ever typed), but spelled Koo with a C.

I typed out various combinations of Hoochie/Hoochy and Koo/Coo, and nothing looked right. I think I went with Coo.

I can understand enjoying displays of athletic skill and strategy being put to the test, but this sort of accompanying tribalism is completely alien to me.

The Jets are life. Thou shalt not take Namath's name in vain, or confuse him for anyone else. Think of it as commandment #11. (And if it wasn't obvious, that first post was 100% tongue-in-cheek. I'm happy if a non-sports fan even recognizes either name, let alone come within a transposition of getting 3 right like you did.)
