TD 393 - A-B-C (Final results)

Post by clt013 »

This TD is called "A-B-C" (but maybe A-C-E would be more appropriate...)

There are 12 questions loosely based on the "classic" six Trivial Pursuit categories. In Round 1, all answers start with an odd-numbered letter (A, C, E, etc.) and in Round 2 all begin with even-numbered letters (B, D, F, etc.). Each letter begins just one answer in the category and a breakdown of letters per word is included with all clues. [Note: If there are multiple words in an answer, they do not necessarily all start with the same letter.] Spelling will not be penalized - unless the number of letters does not match the digit(s) in the parentheses.

Rules/Notes
1) Lowest point total wins; your score for each question is equal to the total number of players submitting that same answer
2) You may use one drop and take zero points for that question
3) You may elect to take the sheep answer for one question
4) There will be a BONUS of (-4) for anyone who gives 12 correct answers and does not use a "drop" or "sheep"
5) Wrong responses are the higher of either +10 points or the "sheep" answer +3
6) Answers that are not the length specified in parentheses but otherwise are correct (i.e. spelling errors) will have a +2 penalty added to their total.
7) All answers are due by 8 AM Central time on Tuesday, September 11, 2018
8) Submit answers via this Google form or PM

Re: TD 393 - A-B-C

Can I ask for some clarifications?

Bonus 1 - so the two figures are:

- Super Bowl number
- Winner's score

...or is it...

- Ones digit of Super Bowl number
- Ones digit of winner's score?

Bonus 4 - Do all of the "four corners" states border each other? That is, are bordering states required to have more than a single point of a shared border?

Another clarification, because you mentioned spelling. If any of the words have diacritical marks, may we omit those without penalty? I'm not sure whether there are any, but it might affect which question(s) I try to answer.

Clarifications:

Bonus Q1 - Super Bowl Number & the difference between the winner's score and the SB number
[Example: If it were SB 42, the answers would be XLII and XXV (Difference between SB 42 and 17 points scored by winning team]

Bonus Q4 - Asking for the two of 48 contiguous states which border (any length) the most others.

No penalty (or bonus) for diacritical marks. Just counting letters.

I noticed an error in the wording of the bonus question on the form - I have corrected it and will PM a couple of entrants who I probably confused.

From topic 3:
Nearly 600 people died in a 1977 collision of jumbo jets at Tenerife - one of these islands
I don't think this will contain any hints, but I've spoilerized it anyway just in case. You may want to avoid this if you haven't answered that topic.
Spoiler
I think I answered a different clue for the topic, but that one was certainly memorable. I was young flight medic with USAF's 2nd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron when that occurred, and was one of the medical flightcrew that airlifted 55 of the 60 or so survivors back to the U.S. the day after the accident on a C-141 cargo airplane. It was a long day.
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.
