Two All Star captains featured and four to go.

Lori’s baseball story was a balk and deserves a fine in the kangaroo court. 1988 first date at Dodger stadium and the Dodgers won. Fine. The next day the Giants won and clinched the pennant? Say what? Obviously wrong in more than one way.

Rick had a chance at a fourth win and Lori torpedoed it by scooping up the remaining $4000 on the last two clues. Nice closing work.

Rick had another chance to win the game in the FJ! round while of course how was he to know Lori would cover a possible 35600 by going up to 34401. That’s J!

The players are perfect in the FJ! round this season. I’m glad to be off the schneid by day two.

This game is a draw for the Strong Form of Shore's Conjecture. The second-place player bet "small." --Bob

FikkleFame explained it, but "switching the syllables" implies reversing it, and only one was changed anyway.

EDIT: What was the strategy Lori used for betting, anyway?

"Paul Allen"? Definitely too generic a name to stick in my head.

The Numerical Movies seemed very obscure to me. I've heard of "8 Mile" but didn't think it was $200-box easy. Three Men and a Baby was my only get.

Really? Identify MS and AL on a map, for $600? Too easy.

House in German is haus. A design school... hmm, what design word has "haus" in it? Gotta be Bauhaus. Was not expecting the instaget here.

Not sure what Lori's FJ wager was supposed to accomplish, other than making viewers at home think "Rick should've bet it all!", which isn't the lesson we should be teaching. (The correct lesson is, "Rick should've bet more on that DD!") Too bad. I thought he had a couple more days in him.

Instaget FJ. Two softballs to start the season.

John Lauderdale is the stage manager. Maggie Speak (no glasses) is a producer. Someone with more recent stage experience will have to identify the 3rd person.

Was I the only one who heard "Robinson Caruso"? I kept expecting a reversal on that.

Thought Rick made the right choice to bet on the larger side; for some reason I figured Lori would be a candidate to not cover. Wonder if she just miscalculated by a few hundred or something, but luckily it didn't bite her this time. She played a strong game otherwise, and congrats on win #1!

ETA: Looks like Lori admitted to a math error in the Reddit thread. Happens to the best of us sometimes.

Curious to see how many missed Final as I did. Got held up on the word bildungsroman for some reason and couldn't jump on the architecture track. Bauhaus seemed super obvious after the fact. Anyways...

35 right.

Science Around Us (1), Go Fly a Kite! (2), Numerical Cinema (3), I'm Allen (3), U.S. History (5), That Ended "WELL" (3)
Religious Leaders (4), Authors' Second Novels (4), The Secret of -nym (3), "V"acation Spots (4), Broadway Replacements (3), Under Studies (0)

My mind was blank during FJ, but I was right in thinking that it was a term I had seen before.

No, I heard it too. Coming as it did so close to the Vanatu/Vanuatu question, I was surprised.

That was about as easy as it gets, to figure out what he needed to clinch the lead going into FJ. He's going to be regretting that DD3 wager for a while.
Never the less, Rick made the perfect FInal wager. If Lori had known he was going with that strategy, she could have bet as low as $10,200 and still won. Her actual bet would have also won a TS, so she made out like a bandit with the extra $5200.

I think Lori brought all of Goleta with her as a cheering section. She's a lot of fun. I'll be glad to see her again.
