Nope, I added an extra possessive to Midsummer.

That error has ruled the response incorrect on J! before, I'm pretty sure. I thought I remembered an FJ where one or two of the contestants were negged because of it.seaborgium wrote: ↑Sun Nov 04, 2018 8:19 pmHa, I didn't even notice. No guess, Exorcist, no guess but might've gotten it had I not been braindead

Plenty of times, most recently here, though I can't immediately find an FJ...

Three good weeks in a row, followed by one that makes me glad I'm not prone to cockiness.
At least I matched the defending champ with "Rhine and Elbe."
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

I checked "wrong vacuum cleaner name". I was actually thinking of the right vacuum cleaner guy, but I blanked on his name. No traction on Wednesday. Rhine and Elbe on Thursday.

Re: FJs for the 10/29/18 week
Seriously considered Romeo and Juliet for Monday's FJ. Most of the metaphors and imagery in the play revolve around light and darkness. But I decided that was more knowledge than Jeopardy! expects me to have. Plus, there's nothing "apt" in the Jeopardy! sense about R&J having moon and moonlight. So Moon = night = the play with Night in the title. That works on a Jeopardy! level.
Needed the picture to make the Dyson connection.
Should've gotten Psycho but didn't. I've even read that factoid before.
Guessed the two German rivers I knew. Didn't have enough knowledge to tempt myself with alternatives. (Wait, I also know the Main. Not even slightly tempting.)
Don't know if I'd have gotten Friday's FJ without the iron TOM. Maybe. Not a lot of Italian car makers to choose among.
Malory work = Morte d'Arthur. Every time. And not just on Jeopardy! In real life too. That's all we have from the man. Even the cognoscenti can't come up with a different correct response when asked for a Malory work. How was this a $2000 clue?
Name a cardinal = Richelieu. Every time, maybe (except when the clues says the cardinal went on to become Pope or break a Major League home run record)? I don't feel like going through all the archive hits for cardinal to check. Can anyone falsify the assertion?
NOTE TO MARK: This poll runs till Wed Apr 03, 2019. All the other Season 35 polls run till Sun Oct 20, 2019. I'm guessing the discrepancy is accidental. (If there's a reason, I'd love to hear it. I bet it's a doozy. )

Re: FJs for the 10/29/18 week
I have changed the 151 to 351. For the running of the polls there is the option to never have them close by not selecting how many days to run it. My preference is to choose a closing date to lock in the numbers at some point. On the first week of this season I picked 400 days for a starting point.opusthepenguin wrote: ↑Mon Feb 18, 2019 7:10 pm ...

Even if a new viewer/voter is catching the rerun game that person can still vote. The following week I subtract 7 from my starting number. Throughout the season I have to remember which week and work on multiples of 7. Sometimes I get it right and others times I may miscalculate or have a typo.
400- (7x7) = 151 looks more like a typo. Thanks for the catch.
For more inside baseball I keep a full 12 month calendar on an 8x11 paper above my monitor on the wall behind it. For Saturday January 5th I wrote 288 as the number at that point of the year for days to run the poll. For this past week ending on Feb. 16th I counted weeks (Jan. 12, 19, 26 & Feb. 2, 9 & 16) to get 6. 6x7 = 42 and I subtracted 42 from 288 to set it at 246.
When all goes well it stays consistent to have the poll end on the same date.

Do you buy it that size special? Or do you use regular notebook paper and slice off the holes?MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Mon Feb 18, 2019 7:26 pmFor more inside baseball I keep a full 12 month calendar on an 8x11 paper above my monitor on the wall behind it.

That's not the regular paper, it's the fancy kind with the holes on the top.opusthepenguin wrote: ↑Mon Feb 18, 2019 9:06 pmDo you buy it that size special? The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.

Re: FJs for the 10/29/18 week
French cardinal, sure (Mazarin has seven hits on the Archive, but none as a response). But there also have been multiple clues about the English cardinal Thomas Wolsey (almost always with a mention of Henry VIII), Francis Spellman & John O'Connor (Archbishops of New York from 1939–1967 and 1984–2000, respectively), and even the punnily named Cardinal Sin from Manila.opusthepenguin wrote: ↑Mon Feb 18, 2019 7:10 pm Name a cardinal = Richelieu.
