Re: Wednesday, November 14, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
It’s not even the finals and we are already getting a coordinated introduction. Claire (I'm guessing she is the ring leader) will probably have something new cooked up for Monday.
Alex handled the extended chat session well with his comments and was more polite & professional than I was at home.
The FJ! category had me expecting someone easy like Pasteur. Right idea, wrong guy. The clue was huge advantage leader and it was only a matter of cover wager or not.
Autumn had a chance to go for the lead at DD3 yet her get left her still in 3rd. She needed the FJ! clue to be a lot more difficult.

Karl Marx was my first guess, going strictly from the first 5 words of the clue. I knew to make the switch, though I would have loved to have written Marx just for fun.

Re: Wednesday, November 14, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
A match that met expectations. Still, I wonder why Autumn decided to go timid with that DD wager. She had just answered the $1200 clue in the same category. If she didn't have any confidence, why wager more than $5? If she felt even remotely comfortable, it really only makes sense to at least get ahead of the leader. I guess I liked her intensity and thought she had a good chance to win it all.
That said, I'll repeat myself that it's great to see such bright kids competing and they're all likely to have a lot of success in their futures. It means a lot to us old(er) folks.

I love cookies, but only got 3/5. Didn't get the animal crackers of Chips Ahoy (blech).
All but Run the Jewels (NHOI) in Vinyl and "chain of command" in Chain.
Didn't recognize anything in that Book category.
Lach Trash: peso
Instaget FJ!

Game was pre-empted here in Richmond due to red carpet stuff for the CMA awards.

Disappointed at the absence of Fleetwood Mac in the Chain category.
Also I wonder how musical fan Claire would have fared with the Wells Fargo clue.

I've seen RTJ in concert. They're a blast.
No way I was missing the Pillars of Hercules DD.

I don't remember the wording of the clue, but Spain's currency was the peseta (not the peso) from 1869 until the conversion to the euro in 2002.
For FJ, I think they thought it was Kid's Week, not Teen Week.

Chain was in quotation marks; "The Chain" isn't really something that the show would ask in that spot.

Bewilderment. But we are proud of you Autumn. I'm not sure how you kept in contention with the two buzz saws scooping up the clues but you managed somehow. Maybe you've seen too many Chiefs games - don't go for the field goal from the 2 yard line in a 2-possession game with 3 minutes left on the clock. .
Good luck, Claire.

But Spain has used the peso in the past. Long long ago past, but it's not technically inaccurate.
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.

I have to say it was very fair of the show to use this FJ in a winner-take-all round.
I'm smart and I want respect.

Made me think of somebody's line (Steven Wright, maybe): "Had to throw away a brand new package of animal crackers. It said 'Do Not Eat if Seal is Broken.' I tore open the cellophane, and sure enough....."TenPoundHammer wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 7:28 pm I love cookies, but only got 3/5. Didn't get the animal crackers of Chips Ahoy (blech).
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

I've seen "It's the X that fits the category" clues from time to time.OntarioQuizzer wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 9:33 pmChain was in quotation marks; "The Chain" isn't really something that the show would ask in that spot.
