Re: Monday, November 26, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I was working too hard on the “Inseparable” clue as my response was Chang & Eng Bunker.
Bridget did not work hard enough on DD3 that cost her the game as she only had the war.
The Disney item: only costs $306.62
The FJ! clue had “Garth” and “Julian” meaning nothing to me. That left 1877 and New Hampshire as I matched Bridget for the solve. Twain and Thoreau were not on my radar for misses and I thought someone might try Poe going off “curse” and “crime.”
Mary Ann was missed today as the game was not J! at it finest with 6 clues not seen and the ugly 17400 combined Coryat. Dylan made his DDs work for him and the lead big enough to allow him the miss on the FJ! clue.

Re: Monday, November 26, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I'm thinking that they didn't figure that anyone would have ever heard of the novel - other than a Hawthorne scholar - so it was just to see who could come up with the best guess with the date and New Hampshire. Pretty thin - but easy enough to come up with the best guess under the circumstances.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Mon Nov 26, 2018 11:30 am

Re: Monday, November 26, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Anyone else hear "POTUS: The Man", for the Lin-Manuel clue meaning they predict Miranda'd be in the White House by 2030 due to his popularity in the 2010s? (Took me a while to comprehend they said "Otis" instead. Still got the clue.)
Also, why were "Siamese twins" accepted in the clue? No, I'm not complaining about "the preferred term should be conjoined twins" because I'm ok with that, but I could swear they were looking for the names of the archetypal "Siamese twins" for which the condition was named (as they were from Siam) and were indeed connected by cartilage at the waist like the clue said. ("Eng and Chang Bunker" btw. That was my response, and I counted it)

Re: Monday, November 26, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Felt like this game had a lot of negs. Was the writing off?
Didn't recognize anything in TV Title Characters.
Still can't remember which state was 50th.
I've heard of David Sedaris but not the book
I saw no way to figure out early/late in German.
Didn't recognize anything in Bible Books. Loved the callback on the football category.
No idea what to even guess on FJ!

Re: Monday, November 26, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Hmm...the book? Nope. The plot? Nope. The name Julian? Nope. OK, it's one of those clues. Let's see...a son writing novels in 1877, so he was probably active around mid-century, set in NH...Hawthorne? Whew.
I was expecting a BMS; instead, they accepted 'Siamese twins' without so much as a pause. I give up trying to figure out these judges.
"In 'Inseparable', about these 19th c. twins, we learn the 4" band that joined them stretched to a freeing 6" late in life."dhkendall wrote: ↑Mon Nov 26, 2018 5:54 pm Also, why were "Siamese twins" accepted in the clue? Re: Monday, November 26, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Bit of a mess, this game, perhaps presaged by J's wrinkled shirt (um, wardrobe??)
Facebook for $1000??
Also read the "inseparable" clue as looking for a specific pair, so I clammed
Lucifer and Angels both left unanswered - there's a symmetry to that
Count FJ as another notch in the "Don't ask me how I know this" column
I can't really get excited for players who leave THE GERMAN UMLAUT til the end. Too little, too spät
It feels good to be back

I couldn't bring myself to watch the new season after getting The Call in Sept, 2 weeks after taping Millionaire, but being ineligible. They want contestants to have a year in between shows. So that kind of stung, but now I'm watching again and still crushing it

Ok, why wasn't there a BMS on the Crimean War? If they wanted a battle, they should have said so. Engagement =/= battle.
Pathetic on the Bible category. Easy money there.
FJ was a WAG, but a fairly confident one. Thought of Washington Irving, but 1877 would be too late for a son.

Like you, the names meant nothing to me, so NH --> NE --> Hawthorne.

There is a reason the show is called Hawaii Five-0.
Not many people can say they've lost four times on Jeopardy!.

So did I, and I'm counting it.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Mon Nov 26, 2018 11:30 am I was working too hard on the “Inseparable” clue as my response was Chang & Eng Bunker.
The full title of the book is Inseparable: The Original Siamese Twins and Their Rendezvous with American History so they probably had to take it since it's part of the title. ( https://www.amazon.com/Inseparable-Orig ... 0871404478 )
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.
