Ugh, I made it to tonight's final round question. I knew Susan B. Anthony was the "obvious" answer, so I went with Martha Washington. Pocahontas would have netted me $59.

I made it there, too. I was sure that Martha Washington was the first woman pictured on US currency, but some Googling after the fact disabused me of that particular trivia chestnut.

In fact, Wikipedia's page on the one-dollar bill still says she was the first woman on American currency (and she certainly is the first to have her face be the primary portrait). I got knocked out slightly before that, but I would have locked in Martha in a heartbeat.

All I know is I've been having major difficulty getting the audio and video to stop dropping out on me lately. This never used to be a problem, even when there was significantly more load on their servers. If I wouldn't have missed at least one of the later questions, I'd have been violently angry at the question disappearing on me around Q6 or so. It's still irritating to not know for sure how far I would have gotten.

I've been having issues as well within the past week or two. Within my family we have an iPad Air, iPad Air 2, and a Moto E4 android phone. Both the Air 2 and the Moto have had issues with freezing audio and video, and both of the iPads have been having trouble connecting via bluetooth with the Moto in order to get the "Eraser", however the Moto can see both iPads and get the eraser with no issues. When erasers were first introduced there were no issues at all and all three devices worked perfectly. One of the recent updates must have goobered everything up.

Audio and video for my phone don't work on wifi, but do on cellular data. I consider this a feature, not a bug.

Finally won for the first time tonight, but thanks to so many people getting free passes (though admittedly, I missed the question about Bob Dylan, and stayed in the game thanks to one), I only won $.39. Not worth setting up a PayPal account yet.

Seriously, though, they need to limit the free passes to one per game or take away extra lives. Once you hit level 10, people only need to answer 1 question correctly to win if they use an extra life on Q 11. I feel like that's going to drive away quite a few people if it hasn't already.

ETA: Just played Words for the second time ever and won that, too. Using up all my good luck tonight, I guess. Now a grand total of $.75. Perhaps I will start that PayPal account after all....

^ You're in great company among first-time winners. I won for the first time last Sunday. :)

I got eliminated on the second question. Had no idea that hockey rinks have rounded corners and didn't guess.

Also tried HQ Words. Got eliminated on the second word due to a massive glitch. The word was TICKLING, but somehow both I and C registered as incorrect letters on my end, causing me to second-guess with an E and knock myself out. Figures that my first time at the one of these I'm actually good at, I get bitten in the ass...

One question short of my first Confetti victory (after weeks of being unable to make it work at all). There was at least one question I had absolutely no business getting correct, but I was still in at the end and, between not having a video feed and running out of time, I panicked and went against what my brain was screaming at me to pick. "No, brain! That would make too much sense!" Would have been a pretty nice payday, too.

I tell ya, I'm not afraid of success, but it certainly runs the other way every time it sees me.

I felt the George Washington Carver question was angling for savagery (or a Party Foul as they call it), but I lost my nerve and went with my friends on it anyway, and it was the only one I missed.

I knew peanut butter existed before Carver and that he had worked with other things. I managed to guess correctly on the 50/50 I had remaining.

The youngest age out of the three Oscar winners? Complete blind guess.

If I had only listened to myself on the King question and not been shaking, that would have nearly covered a month of rent.

I was pretty sure peanut butter had existed before Carver, but the question asked for an item that he patented a process for creating, not for an item that he invented. I was thinking Carver : peanut butter :: Bessemer : steel.

The wording of the question was a bit odd, and is why I hesitated a bit. His inventing peanut butter is a common misconception, but it appears he never developed a new method of making it, either. Interestingly, though, I just now read that Kellogg DID.
