The clue about an African American dance company was quite a fakeout. Alvin Ailey was my first thought, but then I assumed the part about moving "downtown" was pointing to the Dance Theatre of Harlem. It so happens that the Ailey company is performing at City Center right now, but Dance Theatre of Harlem will be there in April...
