Israel's first moonshot was launched off a SpaceX rocket named, called "Beresheet," or "In the beginning" in Hebrew. If successful, it will make Israel the fourth country to land a probe on the moon.

It's also the Hebrew name for the book of Genesis.

Avril Lavigne album (+ title track): Head Above Water

She's 34 now so "teen" will probably no longer be used in clues. Canadian is the standard description. Songs J! likes from the past: "Sk8er Boi" & "Complicated"

Top-line Oscar results:

Green Book wins for Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (Mahershala Ali), and Best Original Screenplay. The film is about African-American pianist Don Shirley (Ali) being driven on a 1961 tour of the deep South by an Italian man from the Bronx (Tony Vallelonga aka Tony Lip, played by Viggo Mortensen). Vallelonga's son Nick won as both screenwriter and producer.
The Favourite's Olivia Colman wins Best Actress in a stunner (most pundits had predicted Glenn Close from The Wife).
Rami Malek won Best Actor for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody. The film was the most honored on the night, also picking up Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, and Film Editing.
Alfonso Cuarón walked away with 3 Oscars, for Director, Cinematography, and Foreign Film (although technically, the Foreign Film Oscar is given to the country [Mexico] and not the director or producers).
Spike Lee won his first competitive Oscar (he had previously been awarded a Governor's Award, an honorary Oscar) in the Adapted Screenplay as part of the team behind BlacKkKlansman.
The song "Shallow" from A Star is Born picked up the Best Original Song Oscar.
Black Panther picked up three awards, for Costuming, Production Design, and Original Score. Ruth Carter (costumes) and Hannah Beachler (production designer) become the first African-American women to win in those categories.
Not many people can say they've lost four times on Jeopardy!.

Another Oscar highlight: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse won for Best Animated Feature, which marks...
  • the first time Disney and Pixar (who have combined for 12 wins in the category’s 18 years of existence) have been shut out when both studios had a film nominated,
  • the first victory in the category for Sony Pictures Animation, whose lone previous nomination was for 2007’s Surf’s Up,
  • and the first win for producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, whose previous animated films Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and The Lego Movie were not nominated, despite widespread acclaim.

The Green Book: Guide to Freedom came out Monday on the Smithsonian Channel, a documentary about the real Green Book,

J! won't ask about that, per se, but it -is- a current event which lets me goose this thread. Knowing the source of the title will likely come in handy in some future FJ. What the Green Book was: https://www.theroot.com/how-did-blacks- ... 1790892293

Six-time All-Star outfielder Bryce Harper will sign with the Philadelphia Phillies in a $330 million deal, the most lucrative contract in MLB history. (Manny Machado, who signed with the San Diego Padres a couple of weeks ago, will earn more per season of his deal, though.)

Harper’s most famous quote has been repurposed as a Jeopardy! category on multiple occasions, as recently as last week.

I will miss Harp (I've been watching him since he was a rookie), but there's no way the Nats should have spent that much. Yeah, the Phillies threw him stupid money alright.

Amazon has scrapped the Dash Button
https://gizmodo.com/rip-amazon-dash-but ... 1832985084

It was a Wifi equipped button that would order product for you, because apparently buying stuff online isn't easy enough.
