Game Recap for Show #7942, 2019-03-05

2019 All-Star Games final game 2.

CONTESTANTS
Alan Lin, a software engineer from Riverside, California
David Madden, an academic competition director from Ridgewood, New Jersey
Monica Thieu, a Ph.D. student in psychology from New York, New York

OPENING REMARKS
Alex: Thank you, Johnny. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome, folks, to the final game in the Jeopardy! All-Star Tournament. Now, if you're trying to handicap today's match, you have to be asking yourself what kind of changes might the captains be considering? Yesterday's lineup worked terrifically well for Team Ken. They earned $32,500. Brad's team came up with $36,000. Team Colby didn't do quite so well, earning only $8,000. What will happen today? Who gets to come out in just a few moments to play the Jeopardy! Round? Let's go backstage and listen in on the discussions.

[Footage is shown of the teams discussing lineups for the match.]

Alex: Well, my oh my, the same three players who helped end yesterday's game in Final Jeopardy! are here today to start things off in the Jeopardy! Round. Alan, David and Monica, welcome back. The dollar figures in front of you three will be taken off the screens right now. Keep in mind, ladies and gentlemen, that those totals will be added to whatever the teams earn today to determine the champion, the $1,000,000 winner. Monica, your team gets to select first. Alex's reading of the "New Moon on Monday" clue is a classic.

Team Brad 3/3 on DDs. Ballgame!

Double numbers with purpose with Colby's team total and the FJ! correct response.

In 30 seconds I can add three numbers and fortunately, I had the correct numbers to work with to keep the clue at 100%. It was not until Alex said it that I caught on to the significance of the sum. Nice one, writers. It worked out well in a match with the outcome already decided.

Fantasy numbers don't seem right as Pam was shown with 31 and Colby with 32. I think Pam got credit for Colby's correct FJ! round and Colby got credit for Pam's (likely, not sure) 4 correct in DJ!

I have for today: (not guaranteed to be right)
Brad: 13
Ken: 11
Larissa: 10
Colby: 10
Matt: 10
David: 10
Monica: 10
Alan: 8
Pam: 4

Overall: (should be right)
Ken: 54
Alex: 49
Larissa: 47

I did too. I also had the 20th repealing prohibition, so my mistakes canceled out. I wish I could be this lucky when I need it.

For the last number I have always been able to remember it in matching it to usual legal drinking age.

These boards have long since surpassed my skill set. Brad in DJ! was clearly the secret ingredient.

Strangely, Duran Duran was my only miss in Music.

Precalled my home state in the Lighthouse category.

I have no idea which amendment any of these are. I kinda vaguely almost know them, but can never pin any of them to a number. Just like which planet is biggest (which is it again? Seriously), it WILL NOT STICK no matter how or what i try.

Brad really pulled away in DJ! People were questioning his skills at the beginning of this tournament?

Is "Seven years war" an acceptable response for that final DD?

I, too, had 1 + 14 + 20 = 35.

Easiest finale of a super-tournament, no, tournament, ever. As AP said yesterday, it's just a buzzer race, too easy for this echelon of players. The other episodes were more difficult than regular games but not on the level of BOTD or M$M or the UTOC. I only went 1/10 on the 2015 TOC finals but got 6/8 here. Hmm...
In for a second lap

I had 1+13+something, just put 30+.

The board felt quite simple with the stars and lighthouse. It could have been better; like Alexander the Great is a 200 question, not 1000

That's a good question, but I would say it would prompt a specification. It was about the Colonies so probably in the perspective of the New World.

had no idea what number was the one regarding religion, but knew the slavery and prohibition amendments....which got me to 34...seeing that it was the 35th anniversary of the current version of jeopardy, i figured it was 1 which then got the total to 35

Some were even questioning his skills during the tournament. How many tournaments does one have to win to get respect? He just does not lose to humans.

And why no wagering discussions today? That would have been hilarious...

Colby: (hanging head) Screw the wager, these guys are way out of my league.
Ken: Screw the wager, that ****** beat me AGAIN.
Brad: (yawn) Screw the wager, this was.... TOO EASY!

French and Indian War was just way too easy for a Daily Double of this magnitude.
