Re: Alex Trebek Announces Diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer
This totally sucks.
My father was diagnosed, also at age 78, with stage 2 pancreatic cancer a few years ago. He survived just a year, though he was able to function well until his last few months.

Amen to all of the above. This is the saddest thing I've heard in a long time. Prayers for Alex and his family, and I hope he feels the strength that is going his way from millions of us who love him.

Re: Alex Trebek Announces Diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer
This news comes on the heels of the anniversary of my mother's death from cancer. After 35 years of having Alex in my living room, I feel like this is happening to a member of my family, too.
I am going to hang on to the fact that he looked and sounded so good, and displayed such hope and humor, in the video.

Horrible news indeed... and now makes watching the previously recorded programs sad and quite melancholy.

This is indeed very sad news. I hope that Alex can beat the odds and leave Jeopardy on his own terms rather than those dictate by a disease.

Very nice heartfelt words and encouragement from Kelly Ripa & Ryan Seacrest on Live, the hosts on The View and the hosts on The Talk today.

Alex has done it so well for so long it is hard to imagine Jeopardy! without him. All the best.

Stephen Colbert sent his well wishes last night since Alex appeared on the very last episode of The Colbert Report before succeeding David Letterman as host of The Late Show.
Just a person who loves game shows.

I have little faith, but I always have a lot of hope. Nothing is certain, and if anybody can beat the odds it's someone who helped resurrect and reinvigorate a dead quiz show at a time when being a nerd still got you beaten up.

Ha! I wonder if fewer people will try out for the show if/when Alex passes the baton. I’m expecting Trebek to outlive us all, but I wonder

Treberk - a dance a contestant performs upon winning a game of Jeopardy.
Only seems appropriate that he should have a move named for him.
This sad news made me think back to my youth when I met Alex and got an autographed picture when he was host of High Rollers.

wouldn't think so...is meeting trebek the main reason people go on the show? the price is right is still thriving after bob barker left...can't see why jeopardy wouldn't still be going on without trebekmorbeedo wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2019 6:31 pmHa! Re: Alex Trebek Announces Diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer
What a week! It was bad enough that Alex had to make this horrible announcement. Then the very next day, this life-long Met fan learned that Tom Seaver (the greatest Met of them all) is suffering from dementia, and has to retire from public life. May God strengthen them both for the upcoming trials that they face. I thank them both for so many wonderful memories and happy moments in my life.
