May have had Sun Tzu though only after I dismissed Lao Tzu.
1+13+21=35 though not with connecting it to S35

I had Meese, but could not have come up with Edwin in a useful amount of time.

Would have had Sun Tzu. I didn't make the (season) 35 connection, but a different one: the minimum age to be President.
I don't think I've seen The Last Supper in person.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

I'm glad they didn't ask for the author. I was thinking of Lao Tzu, not Sun Tzu.

Did not get the 35 connection until Alex mentioned it. It was just a math problem to me.

Sun Tzu is a Hawley-Smoot name so it sticks.

I had a vague notion that the amendments were "a single digit, a teens, and something past 20", but no way would I have been remotely close. Someday I will get my second ever 5/5.

Wed - blowback

Dienstag would have been a DD get, the other two would still have been clams.

I can't quite grok the Monday criteria. If they asked for the author I would have gotten it right; does this mean I check the box?
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.

I added another "not" to the choice. If the clue had wanted the author the voter knows for sure he would not have got it right or thinks perhaps he may not have got it right.

You are confident you knew the author so you do not have to check it.

I would have written Sun T(zs)u with a new alphabet character that could be either letter.
I picked #14 for slavery, with doubt.
Never thought of Hoffa, it was junk news and I don't do junk news or junk science.
I though pica would poll low. It's a great question, but not top box material imho.

PSA for other (reasonably well traveled) boardies like me with s**t for brains: The Last Supper is in Milan. I've been in the Louvre and the Vatican but can name 4 things I've seen. I thought it was a great clue but made easy by the dearth of named and famous Jesus images out there. I'm pretty sure that contractor that cut off his feet is the ancestor of the guy that built my garage

The "backlash" clue gave me pause because I remembered another "backlash" FJ from 2014. (It was a triple stumper then too.) I came up with it right away and tried to come up with something else for the rest of the time, and fortunately failed. Everything else was gotten with a little more confidence; I might have been slightly less confident in the amendments FJ if I hadn't recognized the 35 as a ploy by the show to celebrate itself.

Had "pushback" and came up with an amendment total of 34. Nicely done homage to the 35th anniversary.
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

Didn’t relate 35 to season 35.

Would have gotten Sun Tzu.

Almost didn’t come up with backlash in time, although I frequently deal with it in the engineering context, because the wording of the clue was at odds with my experience: backlash is important to my work because it creates a dead zone where one side of a linkage moves and the other side doesn’t, not because of a jolt when the backlash is taken up.

Got 2 of the amendments wrong...
Surprised myself by my cluelessness on German days of the week.
I think I knew it was Sun not Lao, but this thread has made me doubt it...
I've never seen The Last Supper. Time is precious. (Sorry, I know I shouldn't pick on Josh... )

Would've had Sun Tzu.

Didn't clue in on 35 = anniversary year.

Haven't seen The Last Supper in person.
I would prefer not to.
