The only time I can remember a viral petition of this type actually being a success is the petition to get Betty White to host Saturday Night Live - and that involved a private corporation, not the federal government. But stranger things have happened. Yes, you have to register, and yes, the rest of the site is a cesspool of insane nonsense from both left and right. But I thought I would at least let people know that this has been created.

Orange Voldemort hasn't awarded any Humanities medals (usually 12 bestowed per year in ceremony by the POTUS) during his reign. His base hates smart people. The Science budget will be cut by $1 bn if Mount Doom gets their way.

I frankly don't want the Orange one getting any second hand limelight. But signing this may well be cathartic and I'm all for it. Maybe Alex can hang on until President Buzzy Cohen can bestow it to him in 2021

Yes, it was one of those ideas that comes to a person in the middle of the night and then seems implausible in the morning. Hence my "Don't get your hopes up" tone from the very beginning. I heard there is also a petition to rename the library in Sudbury after Alex, which seems more likely to have a chance of success. But thanks to those who have signed.
