This is the first championship for the franchise, and the first title for a Canadian team in one of the Big 4 sports leagues (NBA, NHL, MLB, NFL) since the Toronto Blue Jays won the World Series in October 1993. (The last Canadian team team to win the Stanley Cup in the NHL was the Montreal Canadiens in June 1993. There are no Canadian NFL teams.)
Interestingly enough, the announcement of an NBA franchise coming to Toronto happened in November 1993.

some of them are only getting stars now? seems that a lot of them should have had them years ago...or did they finally cave and decide to pay the absurd fee to have one?

The latter (or the studio finally caved; sometimes these double as promotional events. Expect Robert Pattinson to be there for the Batman one for example.).

Coming soon to replace the video game battle royales: Auto Chess

J! might stick to a very simple 'Chess' TOM, LL next season will likely ask for whatever flavor becomes the runaway hit.

The NBA MVP for the 2018-2019 season is Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks. He is only the 2nd European player to win the award (Dirk Nowitzki).

Question: during my limited viewing of NBA games (mostly the Raptors' playoff run), he was usually referred to as simply "Giannis". Do you think that would be acceptable as a response or would the judges require the last name?

Additionally, Luca Doncic (Dallas Mavericks, Slovenia) is Rookie of the Year, also the 2nd European player. (Pau Gasol)

I'd imagine Giannis is acceptable, but I sorta want both to be TSes so we get to hear Alex pronounce both names in full.
