Avi's FJ! clue response with shout out:
Spoiler
Image

Scrooge, E is fine though unusual. For the shout out: To my family, I love you so much <3
Jackson needed a little more money on his 2 DDs to have the necessary lead for the FJ! round. Avi could have added 2800 more on DD3 if needed. As is viewers were treated to a tiebreaker. Too bad the clue was such a gimme. Anyone with inside information want to confirm that was the first tiebreaker the guys saw? If there had been a stumper I would think time would not allow it to be shown and it would be edited out.

Teagan tried to keep up with the guys while their buzzer skills were a hair better.

Off the FJ! category I had Twain or Dickens. The clue went there with one of the typical authors and with "Christmas" in the wording it was destined for 3/3. It was only a matter if Avi or Jackson blinked and they did not.

Question for cheezguyty (mostly because I don't keep tournament data in my spreadsheets):

Other than Holzhauer games, where does today's game rank in terms of "combined final score post-Final Jeopardy"?

Avi indicated on Reddit that it was.

Last time it happened I recall one of the competitors confirming that they would in fact edit out any double stumpers.

Why was Jackson wearing the same sweater/dress shirt combo that I did on Wheel? Is this a sign?

I went 0/5 in the Movies and Broadway categories.

NHO "Vampire Diaries" either.

I'm glad that Lukas Graham wasn't in the "Graham" category, because "7 Years" may very well be my least-favorite song of the 21st century.

Loved the shout-out to Kathy Mattea in 2020s for $1,600.

For some reason I found the words of encouragement category very obtuse.

Instaget FJ! and tiebreaker. Ooh, tiebreaker. Have they ever had that graphic for it before on the screen next to Alex?

What a great game they played tonight! It felt so surreal when I was watching and I was so nervous inside watching (probably because I still remember what it was like :D ) When I saw Avi and Jackson get their answers right I got so excited and while that clue probably should have been harder, I did get to enjoy seeing a tiebreaker question be played.

We need two more for a category to go with previous Academy and Weekend.

It sounded like Jackson buzzed in early, and therefore eliminated himself from being able to answer such an easy question. Poor kid!

Edit: There was a "ring" sound just after Alex started reading the question which I thought was Jackson buzzing in, but I think this was just a video glitch, and not Jackson buzzing in early.

Now THAT'S how to play the game! I wish I could have been there to shake the hands of all three of these young folks and congratulate them on a game well done. And what a damned shame either of them had to lose, esp. Jackson on the tiebreaker.

As I see the lineup for the finals, I think we are in for an excellent finish.

How the numbers look going into the finals:

Lucas:
18,700 Coryat Avg. (18000+19400)
DDs: 3/5
FJs: 2/2
Position entering the FJ! round: 2+1

Ryan:
11,500 (12600+10400)
DDs: 1/1
FJs: 1/2
Position: 2+1

Avi:
14,900 (14200+15600)
DDs: 1/1
FJs: 2/2
Position: 3+T1

How they reached the semifinals:
Lucas and Avi won their QF games while Ryan was a wildcard.

Tonight's post-FJ combined score of $106,399 is the highest ever for any game outside of James's run, or third highest for Archived games when adjusting for pre-doubled clue values (behind two other Teen Tournament matches: $61,600 for the 1996 TeenT deciding game and $55,000 in the 1994 TeenT closer).

Great game by all three kids! The softball FJ was a little disappointing.

EASILY my favorite post-James game so far! Holy moly, did all THREE contestants play amazingly well in this game! Congrats to Avi for his hard-earned victory here (that came down to a tiebreaker, LOL!), but Teagan and Jackson should also both be very proud of their performances here! (I do kinda feel a little bad for Jackson though, LOL!).
