Sam's story about attending the Vikings/Seahawks cold playoff game had me utter a simple reaction, "[expletive] Blair Walsh."

NO. 1 HITS OF THE '80s was my kind of category as I have listened to all of the songs/artists. This summer.

Sam, would you like a re-do?

Great job by Sam with the +11800 on DDs 2 & 3 to be in position to survive a TS FJ! clue with an assist on Steven's wager.

No detours for me on the FJ! clue as I was done writing before the music began and had her in my top 3 precalls along with Ally McBeal and MTM. "1992 Time" was sufficient for the solve and rest was only confirming gravy.

Nice bonus for Kirsten that her sole solve worked for the extra grand.

This game is a draw for the Weak Form of Shore's Conjecture. The second-place player bet "big." --Bob

Susan Sarandon is something of a "character," but geez...

The breakup of Standard Oil, for 2000!??! Don't think Hey Mickey belonged at the bottom either, but music isn't my strong suit (2/5).

Instaget FJ. Mildly surprised it wasn't a triple get. Steven's terrible wager? No surprise at all  A free 2nd win for Sam and a $1000 gift to Kirsten.

Sorry Mark. The joys of rooting for a football franchise that enjoys making you suffer...so many bad memories, so many opportunities for them to pop up in random places. Hopefully there's no Falcons fans coming up.

I enjoyed the shout-out to our very own Schliemann on the SJ DD.

Guilty, also.

Can't say I've ever heard of the word emend. And to be honest, until I just looked it up, I thought that it was some recently made up word having to do with the correction of a text message. Oops...

Shocked that FJ was not a triple get.

It's the kind of FJ, similar to the Jane Fonda one, that could be trouble for people who are too young.

I guessed Murphy Brown but no way I would have gone that route had I thought of Roseanne.

This was a very easy board today, I could've done well on this episode!

But congrats to Sam on another win. Steven was pretty good as well, and might've had a better shot if he bet more on that Jeopardy round daily double (and got it right, too).

And I do kinda feel bad for Kirsten, being that she was the only one who knew FJ, but was sadly way too far behind her two opponents for it to matter.

She actually wasn't "way too far behind." With $1,000 more or so before FJ she would have won, given the way Steven wagered.

That is true, but the sad fact remains is that Sam still had $20K compared to her $3K, and so since Steven was only $4K behind him she was basically locked out of the entire thing. Her only hope to win at that point would've been for Sam to pull a Cliff Clavin, which most contestants are smart enough to know not to do.

I consider a Cliff Claven to be a wager that needlessly endangers a player with a lock on first place in FJ, and therefore not possible in non-lock games.

Roseanne would certainly be pretty strong negbait especially if you're too young to really remember the original runs of either Roseanne or Murphy Brown. There wasn't anything overtly political that I can recall about the original Roseanne--either the character or the actress.

I was thinking of her national anthem snafu from back then, though that probably got her pummeled from both sides.

Future contestants take note: Sam isn’t the quickest on the buzzer (though he is strong enough!) But he takes full advantage of his Daily Doubles, just like a player should do. If he isn’t aggressive on those DDs yesterday, he likely loses when he misses the final.
