It was funny to hear Johnny say "from Washington D.C. also" after introducing Christine who matched Gabe for location.

Jason found no DDs today and that was his undoing as he probably could have locked the match if he found any of them. Credit to Gabe for his +5600 on DD1 and DD3 to be enough to overcome his whupping on the Coryat tally.

I did not hear it though the CC has an "Oh, damn." for Christine after guessing the wrong Public Enemy guy.

The FJ! category worked for me as I had the right place on a short list of precalls in doing a continent by continent brainstorm. The FJ! clue with "1973" very quickly eliminated a lot of older places and felt fairly confident what to write even without actually knowing any parts of the clue. It's a fair clue for regular play and better for Jason that he ran into it in game 20 than in one of his early non-lock games.

Julia Collins maintains her place at #3 for regular play wins and David Madden has company for the fourth spot. Great run by Jason and he has plenty of time to work on upping his FJ! clue solve percentage.

Haven't seen the episode yet, but I remember hearing that in taping and wondered if they would cut it out

I played FJ off of Andy's webpage. Had Sears Tower/Willis Tower from "8th wonder" then glanced at the category, got to "1973" at the end of the clue, and hit Sydney Opera House with absolute certainty.

You gotta read the New Old Games thread:

Clue of the game will be AUSTRALIAN HISTORY for $1600
Completed in 1973, this Sydney landmark was designed by Danish architect John Utzon
What is the Sydney Opera House?
The Sydney Opera House opened to the public on the day I was born, so I love the thing. If you ever need to remember the architect's name, just remember that the sails look like potato chips. It's got "Utz on" it!

Took me awhile to come up with this FJ, as I got fixated on England briefly, thinking those two names were British.

Instaget FJ for me, but I can't quite put my finger on why. I think 1973 set off a trigger in my head...

Great run by Jason. Kudos to him!

I got to it pretty quickly after realizing the musical piece was an opera and thus likely a huge clue. Year sounded right as Utzon was alive to win the Pritzker Prize and those only started in the late 70s or early 80s, I think.

Like Christine, I, too, said the other major world building that opened in 1973.

Spoiler
In hindsight, "composer" and "librettist" was TOM pointing to opera. I didn't pay close enough attention at first to notice that...

I really can't explain how I got to the correct response in time (and without anywhere near certainty that I was right--but I got it within about 6 seconds and had the rest of the time to persuade myself that there couldn't be a better response). I think I just tried to match "music" plus "exotic buildings opened in the '70s." I didn't specifically recognize that when they said "librettist" that should've been a clue that it was an opera. If I had known the Sears Tower was opened in 1973 there is a 50-50 chance I would have talked myself out of a correct response. Ignorance is bliss in this case.

Weekly poll request: "I have seen an opera at the Sydney Opera House."

:/ Well, down goes Jeopardy Jason. It's a shame he didn't quite break or at least tie Julia's 20 win streak, but at least he dwarfed both her and David Madden's cash winnings.

I'm honestly not surprised by the way he lost, though. Jason has gotten a lot of FJ's wrong (Granted most of them in triple stumpers, but still), and I kinda figured that it was gonna have to take him missing FJ in a non-runaway game while the 2nd place person got it right to take him down. Seems like my prediction was accurate.

Still, congrats to Jason on an excellent run. Outside of Ken and James, there certainly is a strong argument to be made for Jason being the GOAT regular play Jeopardy contestant of all time.

Let's see if tomorrow Gabe will follow in Emma's footsteps and show that the "giant slayer curse" is a thing of the past, or if it will return to haunt him. Let's hope for the former although given the fact that he had the lowest coryat today, I would not be surprised if he is a one and done.

I thought he wasn't gonna be in this year's TOC due to the July cutoff?
