Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (College), October 7, 2019
If anyone says this test was harder than the one last week it's no argument from me. In less than a week I became 6 clues dumber dropping from 48 to 42.
Where I went wrong:
If I had gone into the test knowing nothing about its level I would have probably guessed Adult before College.
Thanks for the video and answer set to make playing along so easy.
Was the reason for this follow-up to make up for technical difficulties last week, not fair to have the previous one at 11 pm for Eastcoasters or was planned all along?
Good luck to everyone looking for that audition email to come through.
Where I went wrong:
Spoiler
5. blanked on the Tylenol ingredient and did not recall it until Q29.
11. Plain did not know the video game and scribbled Assassin's Creed to have something
18. Erred with Daily News and switched to the correct one a question later
24. Picked Doberman to have something. Oh, duh, of course.
26. right Monopoly property though wrong driving term as I had parallel
36. Overthought the amendment and missed by one
37. Guessed feedback
41. Guessed Drake

Definitely harder than last week's. I managed a 42, but only on the strength of several good guesses, some of which I was pretty surprised to have gotten.

I found this much easier than last week - but sample size, of course. 38/50 as opposed to 36/50.
Spoiler
I came close-ish on the German landmark question. I had "gate" right, but for some reason made it alliterative by sticking the name of the second largest Swedish town before it - Gothenburg. Damn my love of former Boston Bruin Loui Eriksson. Upon review, I'd at least heard of Brandenberg Gates.
German dog killed me, because I obviously went with a German breed name. I had two, but one was obviously wrong because I knew the derivation - "schnauzer". So it's "dachshund", right? Because the J! folks want to deal with misspellings. Ugh.
I was literally thinking this morning on my commute about a punny set of four categories: "A" MAN, A PLAN, A CANAL, PANAMA. The first category would be men with last names beginning with "A", and the second one would be about plans (ie Marshall Plan). Third one's obvious - geography, canals. The one clue I thought of for the PANAMA category was basically the one on the test - Noreiga. Eerie.
And I'm nowhere near J!-ready, as I'm currently memorizing state capitals and Presidents with sporcle. (Yes, not re-memorizing - in school in the 80s/90s, for some weird reason we never memorized state capitals or presidents.) A very nice boost for me on question 6.
If they'd put in one little factoid about the singer/peace prize winner - all the business about Dylan refusing/delaying it - it would have been an instaget for me. I put down Miranda, which, ironically, helped me with two OTHER questions.
I already knew Lenny and George meant "Of Mice and Men", but this week's SNL kept it at the tip of my tongue. I guess you could say it was responsible for me being so...strong...on the test.

I also thought this was harder than last week, on par with a regular 'adult' contestant quiz. 42/50. Count me in also for Doberman (I thought, just maybe, pinsch-ing would be something done with the forelegs...).

This felt much harder than last week's, but I only got one less right, 39 vs. 40. I had a couple of lucky WAGs, whereas last week's answers I felt I actually knew.

This felt distinctly harder to me, too. I got a 45 on this (missed the video game, IT, the amendment , follow back and Post Malone) compared to a 48 on last week's.

Agree with all of the harder than last week’s comments. The before and after question really annoyed me as part of the answer was in the question and it read really awkwardly to me. And I said pointer on the dog breed.

I also thought this one was significantly harder than last weeks, but somehow I did better on this one (47) than the previous one (45). Misses:
The dog breed thing is a fun fact.
Spoiler

33...with far too many where I changed from correct to incorrect.
