Thermopylae (I know better – it happened in 480 BC – but got hung up and decided to say something), no guess

Nothing about the Wednesday clue was familiar. I still couldn't muster a guess after a few minutes with Google and Wikipedia.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

Got to Jungle Book but didn't remember Shere Khan's name, despite (i) exposure to Jungle Book in my childhood and (ii) that character coming up on J! as recently as March of this year.

If you spotted me Marian Anderson I probably could have told you she was an African-American singer and civil rights figure (somehow) but I didn't know the specific story about the Lincoln Memorial until this FJ!

Alan Bailey had a Marian Anderson video FJ, which was one of the earliest games I entered into the Archive. I got it from that.

Wed - Robeson

Checked the 'unfamiliar' box for Anderson as well. Total knowledge gap.
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.

A fun week to watch and play...it's nice to feel you'd keep up with the players in a TofC...even James's game...almost!

I was thinking of the Bay of Biscay but thought it was too far west for France so I clammed, which was for the best because I was turning its name into Florida's bay.

Never read the whole Jungle Book, but I filled in some of the coloring book at Grandma's house. Maybe that was a more involving way to experience it.

Btw, remember this one?

Funny how many art movement names seem to have been coined derisively.
