NHO The Alienist. Turns out it was adapted into a limited series on TNT in 2018, but there are so many of those these days that it's hard to keep up.

Can we just comment how good Stephen looked getting so badly smoked?
Sincerely,
Stephen
Congrats Beth!
Here, here! You got stuck next to two good players, no shame in that. Congrats on getting onstage, and salvaging second place at the end.
Major props to Beth for a strong game and taking down a very good champ. I was afraid Elise would eventually lose despite a higher Coryat, but at least she missed FJ so that eases the sting a bit. I figured out "LEVI" but then spent the rest of the time trying to swat away tech companies like some of you (and Elise).
It always amused me when I was in Argentina that any time you saw a map of the country, it not only had the Falklands (known there as the Malvinas Islands) but their claimed slice of Antarctica as well.

Hello everyone. Can you only discuss the show or can you talk about other topics? I see that there are no other topics.
Yes. See the "Reretaken Down" topic. As long as you're not here to spam us.

Congrats Beth!
He did indeed. I hope you had fun nonetheless. Sometimes it's just not in the cards.

I said “take the pulse” (for temperature) - which clearly doesn’t fit, then said “hard pill to swallow” - which seems just as good as bitter pill or even jagged little pill
I also said hard pill to swallow. For the first one, I said temp check. I'm counting it.

And it was a very good show, too.
Sadly, I couldn't pull up the name in time.
+1
In addition to watching it I had also posted about it in the 2018 current events thread. It was the kind of blank where I'm not even sure after 30 minutes I could have recalled it. No chance in five seconds. I'm glad it was not LL as it would have tortured me until I did get it.

The book is better. And I had trouble remembering the name of it, too...(19th C. for psychiatrist...!?) Got it at home... maybe not in the studio...

Any three-time champ on this show deserves respect, but you have to admit, it takes a special kind of talent to blow that FJ.
Hey, we've seen Elise exhibit both J! skill AND fashion sense. This FJ was not a gimme.
Amen. She won't become a super-champ or make it to the ToC, but IMHO she was both a very competent player and a pleasure to watch. Congrats, dear lady, and sorry to see you go.

Medical idioms just seemed to stump me for absolutely no good reason. Even the ones I knew I somehow managed to screw up, like "bitter medicine" instead of "bitter pill".
I also agree that the "if it were an action movie" category was...uh...one that shouldn't be repeated.
"Amen, brother!" on the "action movie" category. That was truly awful.
On the other hand, I use my own idiosyncratic medical idioms. I'll tell people "so-and-so was indeed a bitter pill to swallow, but that's probably because it's a suppository."

Not seeing how "jeans" would lead a contestant to Uber.
Tech companies have a reputation for being aggressively casual. You either play it as a “no tricks” FJ! clue, or search for a hidden meaning. Although I’d think a reply of GOOG or FB would be more aligned with casual attire - but those are obviously not recent IPOs (and, for FB, not four letters).

How is Uber a tech company?
Well, let's see ... they don't own any cars ... they don't directly employ any drivers ... they have an app, and that's it from the corporate standpoint.

This is exactly the logic that Elise described herself using in a post on the LL forum.
I'm guessing that if you stopped people on the street and asked them to name five tech companies, you'd be waiting a long time before you heard someone say "uber."

It's still just a transportation company.
The name of the company is Uber Technologies, Inc. They describe themselves as "The foundation of our platform is our massive network, leading technology, operational excellence, and product expertise. Together, these elements power movement from point A to point B."
