Much better than leaving it blank.

Amen. She won't become a super-champ or make it to the ToC, but IMHO she was both a very competent player and a pleasure to watch. Congrats, dear lady, and sorry to see you go.
Darn -- the "like" button is still missing. Very much enjoyed watching Elise's episodes.
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

Um, "pommel" is six letters...
Wow, good point! I was so focused on the double letters in the middle that I glossed right over that.
"Ppommell," on the other hand.....

How is Uber a tech company?
Well, let's see ... they don't own any cars ... they don't directly employ any drivers ... they have an app, and that's it from the corporate standpoint.
It's still just a transportation company.
The name of the company is Uber Technologies, Inc. They describe themselves as "The foundation of our platform is our massive network, leading technology, operational excellence, and product expertise. Together, these elements power movement from point A to point B."
No wonder they're struggling...Most people need to go farther than one letter!

And it was a very good show, too.

Sadly, I couldn't pull up the name in time.
The book is better. And I had trouble remembering the name of it, too...(19th C. for psychiatrist...!?) Got it at home... ;) maybe not in the studio...
Agree the book is better; read it when it first came out and was instaget for me. The follow up is pretty good and would make a decent miniseries if the first one did well enough to warrant a sequel.

TNT announced at today's upfront presentation [May 15] that the second season of The Alienist will begin filming next week with a planned release date for 2020.

There's still room for your jokes!
(parse that one, penguin  )

Watched the show just now. Faithfully read every post and agree with "Uber" as a cromulent guess. Luckily, I bailed to Levi, even though the Gold Rush was 1849, and what happened to poor Mr. Strauss?

Another wrinkle for me was the "four" letters. TIL that the NYSE expanded symbols from one, two, or three letters in 2009. If it hadn't been in the clue, I would have Wagged LSI or something. Oh, and they have a dress code on the trading floor? SMH.

We will miss you, Elise. But I get to go to fourth grade now!

Well, that's what Uber's lawyers say...unfortunately for them, the courts have been of a different mind...
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.
