Did not need the Patton lines to solve it
Los Alamos yes and Hanford no
Ray Kroc
Not polled:
I have not seen Patton
I have eaten McDonald's food and been inside their establishment.
I knew there were McDonald brothers and still missed the FJ! clue.

I said Japan for Turandot and second-guessed myself too late. I probably confused it with Madame Butterfly. I guessed Rostand for the French author.

I didn't need to do the math to get Martin Van Buren, Ayn Rand was the only guess I had, I had to think hard for several seconds to pull up Oak Ridge, and the others were WECIB.

19th century presidents outside the ones around Lincoln a weak spot for me
Needed the dialogue to get Patton
Would have gotten Los Alamos, not Hanford

Ugh. Cool Hand Luke and Knoxville Tuesday and Wednesday, no guesses the other days. Friday I was trying to think of a restaurant with carhops.

I probably would have gotten Los Alamos.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

Kroc Friday, no guess on the rest.

Los Alamos, NM is familiar, Hanford, WA is not.

Haven't done that in a while... :D

These FJs all went smoothly except I did have to cross out Kroc when I realized there was a reason the clue specified last name (not by rechecking the category name..)...
I probably would have gotten Patton but not for sure, since no, I don't have that list memorized...
Not sure why anyone would associate Pearl Buck with Russia...Lillian Hellman might have been a good guess if you didn't know she was a Stalinist who excoriated HUAC in front of the committee...and she wrote a picture, The North Star, that also was called propaganda before HUAC. But at least she knew something about the topic.

I knew all three nuclear sites (living not far from Los Alamos helps), and I am somewhat familiar with Turandot's plot. Most of you have probably heard its famous aria "Nessun Dorma," which gets used a lot in skating competitions and on shows like America's Got Talent.

Yet another reminder that I need to do better on memorizing presidents and vice-presidents.
Needed the quoted dialog to get Patton.
Could have gotten pretty much anything related to the Manhattan Project; I’ve read Richard Rhodes’ histories of the atomic bomb and the hydrogen bomb multiple times - fabulous books, fascinating story.
Ayn Rand and McDonald - WECIB?

Pritzker an instaget; no idea about the French fairy tale author. “Opera - why did it have to be opera?”

Worst week in a long time. Had a brain hiccup and said Tyler for VP and felt really silly at the reveal. Couldn't pull Patton in time, went with Apocalypse Now even though I knew it was wrong just to avoid a blank.

The only thing I know about Turandot is that it is an opera. And that it is often mispronounced "Turan-doe."
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

Can hum the aria and even know the basics of why "nobody sleeps" -- but if I ever knew it came from Turandot, I had forgotten long ago.

Gotta admit, I just listened to it and it doesn't sound the slightest bit familiar.

It's a pretty popular selection on "America's Got Talent" for operatic style singers. The most memorable for me is 11-year-old Jackie Evancho's performance as an invited guest artist the year after she competed.

The part where the melody is more familiar to most people starts at about 1:55
