Re: New old games in the J! Archive
Speaking of similar clues...um, looking back at the old games that were recently added, how exactly did this happen?
#57, aired 1984-11-27 1945 $300: Number of stars in U.S. flag raised over Iwo Jima
#56, aired 1984-11-26 NUMBER PLEASE $200: Number of stars on American flag raised at Iwo Jima
I guess their writing staff was pretty small back in 1984, and nobody bothered to double check for repeats....

I would not bet on that FJ! clue going 3/3 in 2020.

You can say that again. I've watched a lot of TCM in my day and I don't think I've ever come across The Big Country.

I doubt 1995 me gets it. He is a talking snowman and a tea salesman to me.

Ridiculous 7W by Len to cost himself a spot in the UToC and made his early exit from the ToC no surprise. Albina was the J! version of Charles Barkley with 5 rebounds.
I cannot figure out this incorrect response: https://drive.google.com/open?id=10JdNq ... oCH7I1JeRd
Help, please.

Thanks econgator for the help on the clue from the 9/18 game. I'll go with that unless something better comes up while marking it with uncertainty.
If that is what Len said it sure changes the play/movie, no matter the pairing (or tripling) and especially considering the time frame it takes place.

Marie’s FJ response struck me as particularly bad.

Albina's error on Television $800 is when it's nice to be on before the age of social media.
The writers should have found a way to word the clue to keep it to one or the other. As is, it's quite gettable just by throwing out a guess.

Nice game with 58R and only 1.5 TS clues plus 3/3 in the FJ! round.
for cheezguyty: how many games prior to this had a category with five photo clues?

This game welcomes Maty Monfort to the J! Archive (though I have a feeling TELEVISION for $300 will probably be the only time she'll ever get mentioned as a J! clue).

It's also Michael Buger's welcome to the J-Canon, as best as I can tell.Jeff-thecdboy wrote: ↑Sat May 16, 2020 6:41 pm This game welcomes Maty Monfort to the J! Archive (though I have a feeling TELEVISION for $300 will probably be the only time she'll ever get mentioned as a J! clue).

^Actually, Michael Burger has been mentioned already (see GAME SHOWS for $800, though his name might have been spelled wrong there):

Player pics of Goron Wean challengers Mark Belanger & Jeanne Day:
Add Mark to the list of J! contestants sharing a name with a (for baseball fans) famous name.
Connected to the Orioles is this obit for Jeanne (I figure has to be her & even if not, still good reading) that I found when trying to figure out her Maryland place: https://www.baltimoresun.com/obituaries ... story.html

It looks like her in the obituary article. I bet she got a kick out of playing someone with that name.

Player pics of Gordon Wean challengers Carole Edwards & Al Kapusinski:
Whether negbait, traps or asking for a player to miss these three (categories don't matter) did not surprise me when they had wrong responses:
The most obvious difference between African & Asian elephants is the size of these
This Egyptian president graduated from the military academy at Cairo in 1938
In medieval Russia, 1 altyn equaled 3 of these monetary units
SCIENTISTS on the far right looked weird for that category in column 6.
Yeah, I would hope that FJ! clue went 3/3.

Someone lost out on a ToC spot because Madeleine wouldacouldashoulda beat Gordon.
Only 2 TS though plenty of Ws.
What I did with the FJ! clue:
Nice 4-day work for Gordon on the buzzer with 3 25s and a 29.

I would have written daisy in thinking "Fresh as a daisy" as trying to get some kind of aqua/eau flower got me nowhere. I was getting closer towards the end in thinking Latin things like that "natatorium" for a swimming place. Oh, I needed to be thinking elementary school days with teachers calling the facilities the lavatory.

Gordon would have been the alternate, with $300 less than 3xer Richard Rasmussen.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Mon May 18, 2020 6:27 pm Someone lost out on a ToC spot because Madeleine wouldacouldashoulda beat Gordon.
