Summer Hiatus Challenge -- Round 2, Day 2

Post by DadofTwins »

Not much to put here today.

ALBUMS OF THE YEAR: 1959-1979

Not exactly Classic Rock, but I hope it'll suffice.

2: This blind piano player won his first award in 1974 for Innervisions; by 1977, he had won three times.

4: Henry Mancini's music from this TV series about a private investigator was the first recording to win Album of the Year.

6: The only Beatles album to win, it includes “When I'm Sixty-Four” and “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.”

8: The first performer to win three times, he went back-to-back in 1966 and 1967 for “September of My Years” and “An Man and His Music.”

10: This band's eponymous second album, featuring “Spinning Wheel” and a cover of “You Make Me So Very Happy,” beat out “The Age of Aquarius” and “Johnny Cash at San Quentin” for the 1970 award.

VESSELS OF EXPLORATION

3: Sancho Ruiz and Alonzo Perez Roldan were the pilots of this ship that ran aground on Hispanola Christmas morning, 1492.

6: A Caribbean island whose capital is Port of Spain shares its name with this vessel, flagship of Magellan's voyage to circumnavigate the globe.

9: The Fram, named for the Norwegian word for “forward,” carried this expedition leader and his team to and from Antarctica.

12: This vessel, scuttled by the British off Rhode Island during the Revolutionary War, was the first European ship to visit the east coast of Australia.

15: This name is shared by the Apollo 17 lunar module, a space shuttle, and the first steamship to cross the Antarctic Circle.
