It's hoseman?? (Scrolls back up to reread the clue) It is!

The date was sufficient for me, so the difference between horse and hose didn't affect my response. I just figured that in 1906 there were still enough horses in the city to make it reasonable for some unknown-to-me hoRseman to have done something heroic.

Lake Nasser. Dams by themselves do not cause flooding, lakes do. :geek:

I don't know why both answers would not be acceptable. They created the dam, and the dam created the lake. Ergo humans created both, same as any number of lakes around the world resulting from the building of dams. I counted Lake Nasser as correct.

Because the category was HISTORIC STRUCTURES and a lake is not a structure. (This was mentioned in the daily thread.)

That's a decent argument. I would note for the record that Abu Simbel is not a single structure.

The clue mentions that it's a complex and the category name uses the plural.
