Re: Friday, October 8, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Ha, Matt got to mention his quiz bowl video and not knowing Black Beauty.
My ears liked hearing "horror" as said today unlike when Ripa or Buzzy say it the other way.
Claire got second place. That's all floridagator is getting out of this game for his rooting interests.
The FJ! category had me expecting countries and instead it was animals.
Another fail for me to go along with missing this one:
#8152, aired 2020-02-04 WORLD MAMMALS: A drawing of it by John Hunter, naturalist & governor of New South Wales, published in 1802 labels it Ornithorhyncus paradoxus
To avoid a blank page I wrote a marsupial and that was a scratching the cue ball in a pocket. At least it only broke a whopping streak of 2 right.
Matt is making 50K look so easy and yet he could be surpassing KJ's and RC's high marks just as easily.
Memo to myself: Mark the archive as last game with Mike Richards as executive producer & writer.
Matt "only" found 11 DDs this week (including the last 7) for a drop from last week. He did get them all correct though this time.
Great combined Coryat today with only a couple of clues getting by the trio.

Re: Friday, October 8, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Is it just my perception, or did the writers put more DDs higher on the DJ board for James Holzhauer than they are for Matt Amodio?
Probably just me, but I felt like in JH's run, they were trying to get other players to hit the DDs, and in Matt's run, they want him to hit those bonus boxes.

Good set of challengers today.
Anyone else winced during Claire's interview? That is on 100% on Mayim. Just choose a different story. I was worried Claire won't be around for FJ.
I just can't tell if other contestants are even trying to ring in during DJ. On the other hand, i can tell when Matt is shutout.

Hard to know with Max. Claire clearly wanted in on DJ1.doihavetoreally wrote: ↑Fri Oct 08, 2021 2:47 pm Good set of challengers today.

J! contestants even in a blowout want to ring in, so of course Claire and Max were trying. Successful much? Not a lot.

Spoiler related to yesterday’s FJ.
Not much to say. A standard Matt game.
Spoiler
Should Max have been negged for adding “triathalon” to Iron Man?

I noticed that too.
And I also noticed that Claire had "69" in her FJ! wager.

What's an animal so weird that someone might think it would be stitched together from several others? Instaget.

Spoiler
I noticed that, too. Given that Max would have been in the audience for Thursday's show, I was surprised that he wasn't uber-careful about the pronunciation. I think Mayim had already accepted "iron man", but it would have been interesting if he had said "iron man triathalon" initially.

'Course, it wouldn't be inconsistent with yesterday's FJ! ruling if they were going by M-W

I thought this was a well-played game and the combined Coryat confirms it. As TPH said, Instaget FJ.

This is Matt's 14th consecutive runaway. His last non-runaway game was on Monday, September 20th.
For FJ!, I guessed kangaroo, which I think is the animal Mark was alluding to. Right country, but not weird enough, I guess?

I answered the same. I thought it was too soon for duck-billed platypus again. On the other hand, it'd probably be much harder to get a kangaroo to submit to stitching than a platypus.
I'm smart and I want respect.

Re: Friday, October 8, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I'm a little surprised at the misses from the esteemed boardies here. Weird animal is Pavlov for Duckbill Platypus to me. I guess my knowledge and ignorance are in sync with this clue, I really don't have a go-to second guess for 1800's animal "discovery".
It was nice to see players with 4 figure scores. It seems like Matt is exercising a lot of restraint in his wagering strategy with the goal to not beat himself. At least not to get #hubris on his resume whenever he does lose.
