Re: Friday, November 19, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Between Modern Family and AFT (plus talk show appearances) there is no counting how many times I've heard Sofia Vergara name her birth country. Bulgaria? Ken handled the stumper well.
Funny that the AMA category had a Camila clue. How timely.
Amy cruised to any easy victory and could have made even more money with 3200 left on the table at DD1 and just 2000 on DD2 with a 16200 lead. She made up for conservative wagering by the end with 15 large to go over 6 figures with room to spare.
The FJ! category had me precall Fitzgerald, Steinbeck and Hemingway.
The FJ! clue is as easy as could be if you know it.
Even without those clues I saw enough movie clips of a Hoffman movie to learn the connection.
Amy is perfect on wagering clues through three games.

Thank you WXVT for showing J! complete while locally I've found out TPIR and The View had break-ins during the 10:00 hour for the Rittenhouse verdict.

I've only barely heard of Sofia Vergara (from checkout line magazines), and I've never seen Modern Family, so I had no chance. But what is AFT? I googled "aft sofia vergara" and checked her Wikipedia page for good measure, but I can't find anything.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Fri Nov 19, 2021 1:45 pm Between Modern Family and AFT (plus talk show appearances) there is no counting how many times I've heard Sofia Vergara name her birth country. Re: Friday, November 19, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Had Lee right away but didn’t get Capote until the very end. Did have enough time to write his name down in time.
Hitting a DD on the first clue in a category with a weird name is always dicey to me. Don’t know if that affected Amy’s wager but she got a pretty easy clue.
The way she’s going, looks like Mark will have to edit some more episode pages next week.

Me: "Okay, brain, this is easy. Just think of two Southern authors."
Brain: "..."
Me: "Not even one?"

Re: Friday, November 19, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Yeah, I should have typed the full name of the show instead of the shortcut. If I had a nickel for each time I've hit "F" instead of neighbor "G" on the keyboard...
I then went on to err on archiving when my fingers went Columbia even though my head knew the U should be an O.

Bamaman: Glad you got it even if it was not the quite the laugher for you I thought it would be.

I actually didn’t see your comment until after I saw today’s game.
Lee was the easy one. My thought process was “Dill, who was he? He wrote In Cold Blood. Truman somebody. Oh yeah, Capote!!!”
Had to read it in high school. Read the entire book in one sitting the night before the test.

Lee was easy. Never was coming up with Capote. Best I could come up with for the other author was "not Faulkner".

I didn't realize Scout and Dill were based on Lee and Capote, but I knew those two were childhood friends and that was enough.

How was the sink clue worded? In hindsight, that answer was obvious, but I said plunge.

J27 - To drop down fast into water

In a bathroom one can find a sink while verbs such as flush and plunge were not what the category wanted.

"Dill is based on Truman Capote" is something I picked up somewhere. So FJ! was pretty much an instaget.
