Rock candy on Monday, belly dancers for the ancient Egypt thing.

I remember when Brad Rutter got "caldera" during the UToC. John Beck said that was the moment he realized this wasn't going to be a cakewalk. These days, it's just another meat-and-potatoes thing for any J! aspirant.

Nixon on Wednesday, Notre Dame on Thursday. I had circus at the top of my list while thinking on Tuesday, then somehow it completely slipped my mind when I discussed possibilities aloud and didn't come back until Ken said it. I count it as a get because I was able to dismiss the other things considered and I had circus as my only reasonable choice at the point I forgot about it, under circumstances that wouldn't have occurred on the show.

Amphitheatre (realized what amphi- means too late), Bærry Goldwater (thinking of Stevenson, said the wrong name), Roald Amundsen

Kefauver was unfamiliar.
Have been inside the Tower of London.
Both the names Thor Heyerdahl and Kon-Tiki were familiar but I did not know anything about them, including that they were connected.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

Based on the stats so far, my "yes-no-yes-no-yes" pattern puts firmly within the herd on FJs this week.

Arena on Tuesday and Notre Dame on Thursday. I've walked around much of the exterior of the Tower of London, but the line to get in was over three hours long. Still on the bucket list if COVID ever permits.

Kevauver and Heyerdahl were both not-quite-instagets, but very close. Nothing to do with presidential elections, but the Kevauver-led interrogations of Michael Corleone and Frankie Pentangeli in Godfather Part II are still pretty memorable scenes.

I was mizled by the French name of the painting and never considered Picasso.
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

A rather embarrassing week.

Butter on Monday (it's a banquet, butter fits in a banquet)
Colosseum for Tuesday
One election too early on Wednesday, with much too confident Dewey. (C'mon Peter - FDR wins 1944 election, then dies before the war is over in 45. Truman takes over and is re-elected in 48 over Dewey. That's two terms and he's out.) Not that remembering would have helped. Recalling that information leaves me with nothing. I don't recall hearing of Kefauver. And had no idea of the losing candidate in 52 or 56. I know the loser in 60, and the televised debates there. But 1960 is not in the 50's, so that doesn't help, either.
Tower of Pisa on Thursday. Eliminated Notre Dame - recent events helped me rule it out based on the date - but never went where the date should have led me.
Friday is literature. That's a nearly automatic miss for me. Wildly guessed Hemingway just to guess someone.

Even the bonuses weren't helpful. At least I'm familiar with Crater Lake. Been there a few times. No go on the others.

Let's see. 1. Norwegian. 2. Deep blue sea. 3. 1948. 4. Non-fiction.

And for all of that my brain never got around to Kon-Tiki or Heyerdahl.

I think my brain needs a vacation.
