It would have been interesting to see how that kind of prep went up against Mattea.

Where's the 'care' icon? Feel better, herring-breath.opusthepenguin wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 8:02 pm So was yesterday. I wish I could put the polls together but I'm just well enough at the moment.
EDIT: not.
If this polls above 20%, I'll be surprised shocked. I had the movie, but no way I was coming up with the character.

Nobody is going into that much detail if they lose. Too bad he studied Star Wars and not The Godfather.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 9:17 pmDaniel posted this on Monday:CyrusChan wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 9:06 pmwhere's this reddit page?MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 1:48 pm ...
Daniel winning was not a surprise based on his reddit postings this week. DD3 and the lead worked in his favor today. It was no guarantee that he was going to win, but it was impossible to be surprised today.Spoiler

Always like reading detailed accounts of the journey. As said, absolutely no surprise he won.
All those prep details but I didn’t see any mention of wagering strategy. I must have skimmed by it. Or maybe he’ll post about that prep later on.

Watch it. Even before spending a night in Oregon.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 1:48 pm
The clue had me almost just as lost although after a detour to Fellini and La Strada I picked the right movie for most likely in the FJ! scope. With no idea about the character, since I have never seen (guilty, although I won't be the only one after it's polled), the movie, (I was 8 when it was released), I went with the family name to have something.
I don't know if we saw it in real time, but if so, nicely called by Mayim on "Fifty cents". Alex had a habit of saying "oooooooooooooooooooooh....., I'm sorry, we can't accept that" in such cases.
I'm smart and I want respect.

I was surprised that "Fifty Cent" was accepted. I thought it was common knowledge that the "50" in "50 Cent" is properly pronounced "Fitty".

But the show doesn't penalize mispronunciations provided they are plausible based on the spelling.Robert K S wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 10:59 pmI was surprised that "Fifty Cent" was accepted. I thought it was common knowledge that the "50" in "50 Cent" is properly pronounced "Fitty".

The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.

Time to spark a nerd debate:
Is the Thrawn trilogy even canon anymore in the Disney-infected Star Wars universe?

No, it is not, but Thrawn himself was re-introduced to canon in the (poorly) animated series Rebels. Along with hyperspace whales and time travel.BrigadierSolo13 wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 11:32 pm Time to spark a nerd debate:

Re: Wednesday, May 11, 2022 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
If you want to get technical about it, the term "Expanded Universe", as used in tonight's Jeopardy! clue, is an anachronism in what you call the "Disney-infected" universe. The Expanded Universe ceased to be in 2014 with the great reorganization under the new Disney regime, and that term was deprecated in favor of "Legends".BrigadierSolo13 wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 11:39 pmNo kidding, I thought Star Trek had a monopoly on sci-fi/whale crossovers.Robert K S wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 11:35 pmNo, it is not, but Thrawn himself was re-introduced to canon in the (poorly) animated series Rebels. That term should not have been used in the clue.

Re: Wednesday, May 11, 2022 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
According to Euclid, equal circles are those for which either of these 2 measurements are equal--makes sense
I was expecting a reversal on the Mallory's answer of circumference and radius. I get that it's wrong if it's not what Euclid said, but why the hell would he say that? There's no chance it isn't "both diameter and radius". For that matter, you can include circumference and area if you want to have a more useful definition. He should have quit after his parallel lines don't meet theorem (axiom? postulate?, whatever..).
My Spanish vocabulary doesn't seem to include "mercy", so I had nothing to make a WAG with. Thanks for posting Daniel's narrative. I always root for teachers.

Coryat: $35,000
47 R/3 W
DD: 3/3
FJ:
LT: Go west, young man (DD); radius & diameter; date; T-2; "Venus"; Hebrew National; The Cowherd; days of wine and roses
Never watched The Godfather, but I'm reasonably familiar with the main characters and plotline. NHO Clemenza.
50 Cents?! He'll hear about it from his students for that one. (Or maybe not. Is Fitty old enough now that the kids wouldn't find this embarrassing in the way they would if, say, he had said "Post Alone" or "BST"?)
Venus? No, baby, they ain't got it.
Did they really need to give "palindromic" on a bottom-row clue about a 404 error?
