Re: Wednesday, June 22, 2022 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Mayim opened with a clip of Megan's win reaction from yesterday as well as noting her third time winning by a $2 margin.
The players were 0/3 on DDs and with Sarah missing the FJ! clue kept the streak alive for no sweeps to end the game.
Mayim got to attempt a garbled reading of "Aaron Burr" in the Ad category.
Megan played from a trailing position throughout the game that was mostly a mess with double digits TS clues and incorrect responses on the way to two clues not played.
My precalls for 19th CENTURY LITERATURE were Bronte, Austen, Dickens, Cooper and Tolstoy.
When I saw the clue I reacted off parrot to write Lofting as soon as I did that I realized Dr. Dolittle was not 19th century. After a quick parrot detour to Stevenson I was happy to get to the right author and did not bother with the full name like Megan and Jeff did.
Jeff went for 11202 to make sure Megan with 5600 could not win if he got it correct and as protection in case Sarah tried to be cute and attempt to get to 11201 to also block Megan.
Sarah went for the possible tiebreaker and she would won outright if she had stayed domestic for the right author. Jeff did not play a DD today so we'll see if he can find one from the champ's spot.

Ugh, just not enough time to run through all the usual precalls of Dickens, Bronte(s), and Austen for me to ever come stateside. I also settled on Stevenson though I knew it was wrong.

I have got to learn not to attempt the Final clue and click on the spoiler box with the correct response, without at least reading the category first.
Let us be glad that we were not deprived of that great title from Harper Lee, To Kill a Parrot.

Note to self: poems are literature too.
Spent literally HOURS trying to come up with a book with a bird in it and went nowhere. Massive headslap on reveal.

Quoth the parrot, “Nevermore”.
Good idea making the switch, Ed. Although an NFL team called the Baltimore Parrots would be cool.
Another Stevenson here.

Re: Wednesday, June 22, 2022 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Wow! Could this be the lowest combined Coryat if the season? And, Opus, this one fair begs for a Fourth Podium poll. If you aren’t up for it, I might have to do it. Megan’s luck runs out with a double solve tonight. I started down the TKAM path until I noted the 19th C in the category, at which point I got to EAP in short order.
