Ken picked the right game to work in the Waluigi reference. Hope Emmett likes his new nickname.

The contestant coordinators will be looking for a Mario champ this season, so try out if that is your name. First or middle.

Luigi managed to keep the lead even after stumbling through a blank on an explorer and serving up a rebound to Emmett. On DD3 Luigi did 8600+3000 with Emmett at 14200 to return the favor when Emmett did just 3600+1000 on DD1. Well, someone had to win today.

4/5 and I'll take it for that return of the TEXTING ABBREV. category.

The FJ! category looked very promising and my face would have indicated as such for whatever reactions Ken noticed from today's players upon the reveal. I matched the gentlemen when I saw the clue and was glad it was not about artists as that would have been more difficult for me to recall.

The preview for next week's challengers had me do a double take as I thought Austin Rogers was back.

After incomplete boards on Mo & Tu we got the full 61 to end the week.

From the Study Guide thread:
Volante wrote: Mon Jan 31, 2022 5:05 pm “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” from Encanto (written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, another Name You Should Know) has become only the second song from a Disney animated film to reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. (Nope, the other wasn't from Frozen)
Spoiler
"A Whole New World" from 1992's Aladdin

Which is why I said "Beauty and the Beast", lol.

Yeah, That's misleading. Looks like while the film was in 1992, it hit the charts in 1993? They should have just said "this duet from a 1992 film" or something.

Disagree on misleading, but I understand your argument. Beauty and the Beast was from 1991 though, and was sung by Angela Lansbury, who is not a duet. That one's totally on me.

Doubtful. He made a wager that has strategic merit, betting that 2nd would not answer correctly in a category we assume he did not feel strong in.

Here's a subjective question about the wager though. Is a player that averaged 49.5 buzz in attempts this week ever weak enough in a category not to cover the double up?

I do get that, but... The one scenario I couldn't deal with would be entering FJ! with a lead, getting it right, and going home because I didn't bet on myself.

Right there with you, I couldn't deal with it either. Let's just hope Luigi knew going in he could deal with it.

I would probably average 50-52 buzzes per game, and there are FJ categories that give me the willies. I still wouldn't not wager to cover though.

40-45 here, I despise pop culture, & even I would make the cover bet.
Not being a Disney fan was an advantage as I avoided any distractions to get to the correct response

Luigi lost. F him.

My hopes of a perfect week to begin the season crashed and burned. My only guess was "something from Lion King".

I can see that, but to me that made it a good FJ. My first thought was "A Whole New World" but then I thought, wait, Aladdin came out in 1992. But what's next on the Disney horizon? The Lion King. 1994. So I knew I had to stick with Aladdin. Either you know the years to that level of precision, in which case you get this right, or you only know the ballpark in which case 1993 is close enough and you coin flip between Aladdin and Lion King. Maybe you throw Beauty and the Beast in there if you don't know that it wasn't a duet in the film, though it has been sung as one since.

Oh, and just F everybody's I: Angela Lansbury? Still alive. Older than the Queen. Was.
