Fixed and fixed, thanks. Right, always assume the error is something on my part and not the writers.seaborgium wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 8:28 pmI have a couple of correction ideas. J19 I'm guessing should be "contained," not "contain," given the clue is about ancient libraries. And DJ25 should be 1546 (I don't know if that's a mishearing or a typo, but I assume the writers weren't 100 years too late).MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 8:05 pm From a TuneIn recording here is 9/12/90: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=7502

Re: New old games in the J! Archive
All weird bets in the first few seasons of the program can certainly be explained by the fact that even basic strategy had to be figured out on one's own and was never really enumerated anywhere. (Even "Secrets of the Jeopardy! Champions" wasn't published until 1992.)Bamaman wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 1:36 amMissing a letter in personal in J25.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 1:19 am From a TuneIn recording here is 9/13/90: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=7504

There were definitely worse bets made than this early on; trust me.

Kyle's wagers are standard in the next two games.

Looks like Season 19's final two missing pieces (#4279 and #4280) are found, as I contacted Sara Glidden on Facebook - she was amused that her games were our only missing links from this century. I'm sending the clips to Robert and Mark shortly.
The clip for #4280 is missing the intros, but I'm pretty sure that Rance Craft is the correct spelling for one, and I'm still working on trying to find the right Jim Weir(?) from Germantown, Maryland. He was in the US Army Special Forces-Airborne division, so if anyone's got any military database connections, that'd be a fine place to start.

That would leave the New Year's Day 1998 and 1999 games as the most recent missing links.goroshnik wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 6:43 pm Looks like Season 19's final two missing pieces (#4279 and #4280) are found, as I contacted Sara Glidden on Facebook - she was amused that her games were our only missing links from this century. Wow, the War Games, cool. Jim Weir is a high school mathematics teacher and Rance Craft is an attorney from Austin, TX. It's up to Robert to say more.goroshnik wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 6:43 pm Looks like Season 19's final two missing pieces (#4279 and #4280) are found, as I contacted Sara Glidden on Facebook - she was amused that her games were our only missing links from this century. I might have found the right Jim Weir... this one formerly lived in Germantown and was a demolition specialist in the U.S Army Special Forces. I've added a comparison pic of this Jim from 2013 - I'm leaning yes, but until I get a confirmation, I can't say for sure. ahttps://www.facebook.com/jim.weir.374MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 7:13 pmWow, the War Games, cool. Re: New old games in the J! Archive
As for the January 1st, 1999 episode... Brian Gillespie (the reigning champ and eventual winner in this one) was easy enough to find online - he's currently a theater director and actor in the NYC area. He did post a YouTube clip a few years back of his intro from his first game, but in the comments section he replied three years ago: "I only have my first episode. Had a tape with all three but someone borrowed it 17!years ago and never returned it."Bamaman wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 7:10 pmThat would leave the New Year's Day 1998 and 1999 games as the most recent missing links.goroshnik wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 6:43 pm Looks like Season 19's final two missing pieces (#4279 and #4280) are found, as I contacted Sara Glidden on Facebook - she was amused that her games were our only missing links from this century. I sent an email his way, just to see if there's any update. If he's even able to remember the name of either or both of his opponents that day, that'll be another lead we can follow.

That’s wonderful we can finally complete Season 19. It’s going to be tough finding January 1, 1999. I do find it hard to believe we don’t have January 1, 1998, considering GSN ran that season about 4-5 times. You would think surely someone would have recorded to sometime then.

One episode that may ultimately prove to be difficult for us to find in order to complete the Archive:
#2233, 1994-04-27.
Richard Nixon's funeral occurred at 4 PM Pacific that afternoon, leading to widespread preemptions that evening.

Of course, I had to run into a game with a bunch of media clues. Good match, though, and fun FJ! clue.
Thank you to goroshnik via Sara for helping to fill in these pesky gaps.
