Re: Monday, November 20, 2023 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Deanna had the recency advantage along with drawing 1xers with nothing special stats from their previous two games. She took advantage to earn the lock with buzzer timing, opponent mistakes and most importantly 3/3 on DDs.
Missing the FJ! clue? It doesn't matter today. Overall, Deanna has only solved one FJ! clue correctly in her J! career. It might matter in the semis (or finals).
No second guesses needed for me on the FJ! clue (Kevin crossed out Cleveland to go with Deanna crossing out Tyler) as I only wrote the right guy.
Last of the QF games tomorrow.
The goings-on for Rosalynn Carter are going to mess up early J! viewing at some point(s) this week. Today went okay.

Cleveland is of course the obvious distractor here, despite being from New Jersey himself.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2023 1:33 pm No second guesses needed for me on the FJ! clue (Kevin crossed out Cleveland to go with Deanna crossing out Tyler) as I only wrote the right guy.
On the Tabasco clue, I skipped the easy one (didja know the McIlhenny company holds a trademark on the name "tabasco", so no other company can call their product "tabasco sauce" even if it's made with tabasco peppers?) and went with the vinegar option instead.

I played something recently, WikiQuiz maybe, that asked who the first president to go to West Point was. Missed it then, but it sent me to the right answer today.

Re: Monday, November 20, 2023 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Between the Second Chance games and this one, what is Deanna's current win streak? Am I correct that she has the longest current streak of any active player?

There's only been two: Grant and Ike.MinnesotaMyron wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2023 7:01 pm I played something recently, WikiQuiz maybe, that asked who the first president to go to West Point was. Missed it then, but it sent me to the right answer today.

Plus, if you leave the question that ambiguous, Jefferson Davis.econgator wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2023 10:03 pmThere's only been two: Grant and Ike.MinnesotaMyron wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2023 7:01 pm I played something recently, WikiQuiz maybe, that asked who the first president to go to West Point was. Coryat: $43,200
51 R/3 W
DD: 3/3
FJ:
LT: Detroit Red Wings, U.S. Civil War, 2001: A Space Odyssey, litmus, vinegar, apple, period, Constantine the Great, class
Mid-19th Century prez who went to West Point? Straightforward enough.
I'm kinda surprised they didn't pin DD3 well enough to eliminate aftertaste as a technically correct response. Especially rough for Kevin, since that ended up being the difference in the game.
Deanna's version of a Beatles classic ends up being...quite a bit racier.
The contestants missed on two subjects for which there are easy mnemonics:
1. The camel whose back looks like a D is a dromedary, while the one whose back looks like a B is a Bactrian.
2. The taxonomic ranks can be remembered as (there are other versions, I'm sure, but this is the one Mr. Giese taught us) Kings Play Chess On Friday, Generally Speaking.
I had an all-time embarrassing neg on Etched In Stone $1200, when I looked directly at those hieroglyphs and called them cuneiform.

Same. I didn't want to deal with any potential BMS issues.da Doctah wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2023 6:08 pm On the Tabasco clue, I skipped the easy one (didja know the McIlhenny company holds a trademark on the name "tabasco", so no other company can call their product "tabasco sauce" even if it's made with tabasco peppers?) and went with the vinegar option instead.

Wonder how the residents of Villahermosa and their neighbors feel about that ............
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

The WikiQuiz MinnesotaMyron mentioned, where no category name was mentioned. Davis preceded Grant not only in becoming a president, but in graduating from the US Military Academy.MinnesotaMyron wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 12:00 amThe category is literally U.S. PRESIDENTS.
