CONTESTANT INTERVIEWS

Alex: Trevor Walker, I suspect, has a good sense of humor because he did something on Facebook that I'd like you tell the folks about. You changed your Facebook picture?

Trevor: Yes, to a picture of President Obama when he was in college, and all my friends were like, "Trevor, this is such a great picture of you. You look so great." And I was like, "that's not me."

[Laughter]

Alex: And did they then ask you, "well, then, why did you do it?"

Trevor: Yeah, I've actually always been told that I look like Obama, and so I did that, and then they were all fooled.

Alex: Just for fun. Hey, that's great. All right.

Alex: Taylor Roth is from Plano, Texas, a major in psychology. She's a junior at Baylor University. And I would say your hair today is auburn, is that correct?

Taylor: Yes, it is.

Alex: It has not always been auburn.

Taylor: It definitely hasn't. In the past two years, I've gone through a phase where I change my hair color a lot. It's been pink, it's been purple, it's been blue, just kind of whatever my mood is.

Alex: So, it depends on your mood?

Taylor: It does.

Alex: Okay. And this indicates what?

Taylor: Calmness.

[Laughter]

Alex: Okay, you have to be a little--

Taylor: And competitiveness.

Alex: Competitive --that's good. Okay.

Alex: Paige Radtke is from Fort Collins, Colorado, and you got a pretty impressive fellowship recently. Tell us about that.

Paige: Yes, I did, Alex. This summer I'm gonna do a biomedical research internship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Alex: And you're gonna be specializing or studying in what area?

Paige: Polycystic kidney disease.

Alex: Kidney disease?

Paige: Yeah. Correct.

Alex: Okay. Find a solution soon.

Paige: I hope so.

Alex: Some of us need you.

[Laughter]

I'd say the real reason there's no worry about a cable car accident at Fisherman's Wharf is because there are no cable cars within 4 blocks of it...

All in all, that was just a painful game to watch.

Not so much as a guess for FJ.

Given all the triple stumpers and negs, I couldn't help but regard this trio of contestants as below-average, making it a lackluster game to watch.

FJ was an instaget. I was surprised none of them got it.

Two guesses off by several centuries, and an Irishman. Add in a lot of easy material resulting in TSes (New Guinea a TS when spotted Papua!?),...yeah this was kinda burtal, from start to finish. Oh well.

Not quite instaget, but close. I was expecting an author, but that apology reminded me of Galileo, which put me in the right mindset (sort of).

I was hoping Taylor would advance for a couple of reasons. One, she's from my neck of the woods. Two, this didn't come out in the show, but she has an inoperable brain tumor, according to an article in the Dallas Morning News. But that hasn't kept her from getting on with her life.

Sort of a meh game, was stunned at the lack of answers to some of the clues.

But as a fan of his creepy works, was thrilled to see H.P. Lovecraft as an answer. Go Cthulu!

The FJ was a triple stumper? Really? You know he was born in 1809 and we get... Oscar Wilde? Sir Thomas More? Sir Isaac Newton? It was an Instaget on my end. Mmmmmm.....

At least Wilde was around in the 1800's. Newton was about 200 years too early and More 400. I may not have had a guess, but I knew those last two weren't even close.

It was kind of painful.

I subtracted wrong for FJ and spent a few seconds trying to think of a famous Englishman born in 1709. Then I realized my error and immediately got the right response.

Actually, I think there are 3. Chris and Liam are the famous ones here, but I swear I heard once that they have a 3rd brother who's only known in Australia.

EDIT: Luke! I was right! Good job, random useless memory.

Please tell me somebody in the studio other than Alex was paying attention to the category with the first degree murder. I got that immediately.

4/5 in J-5, missing only "jaded". As for junta: JUNE-ta, HOON-ta, to-MAY-to, to-MAH-to, it seems. As long as I remember a smidgen of Spanish, I will pronounce it HOON-ta.

Clammed on FJ!. Couldn't think of any Englishmen born in 1809.

If I'm ever in California and decide to carjack and kill someone, I want Trevor and Paige on my jury.

I got a chuckle from Paige for predating Grace Kelly's death by 20 ears and her adopted homeland by about a thousand miles.

I got FJ pretty quickly. Can you name another famous person born the same day as Darwin?

Hint.....
Spoiler
He was mentioned on today;s show.
I agree a pretty lame game. Timid DD wagering, bad FJ bet by Paige and a lot of bad misses.

With some thought I came up with Darwin, but wasn't 100% sure. Couldn't understand how you could come up with Newton and More. A lot of surprising triple stumpers and way off answers today.
