2013 Summer Hiatus Challenge -- Round 3, Day 4

Post by DadofTwins »

The River Songs 12-pointer from R3D1 is replaced today.

There is also news on the Wild Card front. Unless we get a couple more people playing for it, the "College" Wild Card may not reach "critical mass." If it doesn't, we will have to add an additional "high scorer" Wild Card in its place.

I am very hesitant to take away the TOC slot for the youth division. But as the pool of players changes, the game they play has to adjust as well.

Also, once rjaguar3 gives the go-ahead, we'll announce a Round 2 Weekly Winner. Stay tuned to this space.

On we go.

RIVER SONGS

12: On the album Surfer Rosa, the Pixies sang about this, the longest river to flow into the Shatt Al Arab.

NAMES FROM THE IKEA CATALOG

2: This blob-shaped comic book mutant in The Morlocks shares its name with a game show hosting IKEA bookcase. (And do you really have to ask which game show? Really?)

4: This IKEA curtain set shares its name with an Australian bag slung over the back and a Roald Dahl title character.

6: The “once more unto the breach” speech ends, “The game's afoot: Follow your spirit, and upon this charge, cry 'God for' this IKEA chair and royal nickname, 'England and Saint George.'”

8: In the thirteenth century, Ivan Asen II ruled the Second Bulgarian Empire from this IKEA fabric pattern/capital city.

10: IKEA chair first name of the character played by Burt Lancaster in a 1960 film adaptation of a Sinclair Lewis novel.

ARTISANS

3: The father of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader-Ginsburg was this type of artisan who specializes in clothing made from animal hair.

6: The family name of this Mercury & Gemini astronaut indicates experience making wooden casks and barrels.

9: Tools in this trade include the 5-inch points, chalk, a tracing wheel, and pinking shears.

12: An artisan who made this might use a surcingle to install the product.

15: This 11-letter craftsman might build his namesake products out of parts called naves and fellies.

What’s Montague? It is nor hand, nor foot,
Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part
Belonging to a man. O, be some other name!
What’s in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other word would smell as sweet.
