2013 Summer Hiatus Challenge -- Round 7, Day 4

Post by DadofTwins »

Three days to go.

Anybody with at least 2000 points to this point can still qualify for the TOX even if they don't win the week.

Good luck.

CONTRANYMS

(Words with literally opposite definitions, which will literally blow your mind. And the fact that that is a lexically-valid sentence makes me a little bit sad.)

2: This part of a song that is sung over and over again has a name that means “to stop.”

4: When doing this to a chandelier, you're removing fine particles, but when you do it to a pastry, you're adding them.

6: A company will send you this when you owe them money, and if you pay in cash, you might send one or more in return.

8: When you're this, you're being so obvious I can see right through you as though you weren't even there.

10: To temporarily recess a legal procedure, or to persist in a particular action.

CIVIL WAR BATTLES

3: The 42 B.C. Battle of Philippi was waged between forces loyal to this slain general and his assassins.

6: At the First Battle of Saint Albans, this branch of the House of Plantagenet captured King Henry VI and killed the Duke of Somerset.

9: The 1946 Battle of Siping was fought between communists and Kuomintang nationalists in this country.

12: Forces loyal to this Nationalist leader launched the Aragon Offensive on March 7, 1938.

15: Atahualpa had just won the Battle of Cuzco in this empire's War of the Two Brothers when the Spanish incursion began.
