Re: Your Screenname: What inspired it?
Prodigy network.
Needed a screen name for chat purposes
Opened a dictionary - aiming for z...
Put finger down....
The word? I missed the Z’s and hit the Y’s, where “yclept” was the chosen one.
This is a 100% true story - I never intended to use it but decided what the heck - as it likely won’t be something anyone else would use anywhere

Re: Your Screenname: What inspired it?
I missed this thread when I first signed up. My name is for my 2 dogs of that time, and the Q in the middle is because I find it (sourly) amusing that, when picking up a prescription for a dog at a regular pharmacy, a veterinarian will insert a Q as a middle initial to identify the scrip is for a pet (so they will know to charge you full retail).

Re: Your Screenname: What inspired it?
I realize that it may not be as obvious as I thought, so please forgive the belated post. I retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant (E-9) before embarking on a post-military career. This is the only place I use that nom de board; possibly because that section of my biography was omitted from my intro on Jeopardy. They introduced me as a "retired adjunct professor," even though that was only a portion of a varied civilian life. Maggie said it was because I was retired from active work and they preferred to use the most recent position, and I had been out of the military for "too long" -- even though that was the majority of my adult life at the time.
I had specifically requested that it be included in my intro -- military officers are non uncommon on Jeopardy, but enlisted personnel are pretty scarce. But it was not to be.

I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

It's the name of a golf course/street in Leawood, Kansas. I used to deliver mail in that neighborhood and loved the name.

The railway runs about half a mile from there, though not by the actual course. I never made that connection before, but there may be something to it.
There certainly is a train theme in general though. This gorgeous piece of artwork (the wall is an engraving, the horse is a sculpture) is near the clubhouse.

My screenname is the title of what was my favorite Bob Dylan song at the time I joined back in 2014. I still love the song, but now my favorite Dylan song is "To Ramona." I don't think I'll be allowed to change it.

Re: Your Screenname: What inspired it?
I've used "pinkfreud" as a screen name ever since the days of dial-up computer bulletin boards. I used to be an aptitude testing specialist in a government office, and my co-workers called me "Doc Freud." When I was trying to think of an online nickname, I didn't want people to think I was male, so I exchanged "Doc" for "pink," which I hoped made the name more feminine (and which also resulted in a pun on the name of one of my favorite bands). I used "pinkfreud" as my screen name when I was a Google Answers Researcher, and many online friends know me better by this nickname than by my real name (Jean MacKay Jackson).

Dang it, I feel like I've learned you're female before and forgotten it. The pink angle didn't work for me because the Pink Floyd angle overwhelms it. It seems like people who are into Pink Floyd are almost all guys.pinkfreud wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2019 9:23 pm I've used "pinkfreud" as a screen name ever since the days of dial-up computer bulletin boards. I was going to say your avatar doesn't help matters. But looking at it closer, I see that's a female off to the side. I always register it as just a car.

clt = my initials
013 = I like the number 13 and thought my handle would look better (and be more rhythmic to say ) with a leading 0 (or "oh")

I would like to think that the magnificence of the car eclipses my pale and puny presence in the photo.opusthepenguin wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2019 9:33 pmDang it, I feel like I've learned you're female before and forgotten it. Gosh, Opus, when I look at your avatar, all I see is an ice cream cone with a vestigial bird attached to it.

Nothing much, really. I am just a casual viewer of the show, and so I made my username to reflect that.

Re: Your Screenname: What inspired it?
No veterinarian I ever worked for did this, either. They would just put the pet's name and in parenthesis have canine, feline, whatever. And what would happen if someone actually had Q as a middle initial?triviawayne wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2019 1:06 pmprobably not, that never happened at the pharmacy I used for my pets medsMollyQMurphy wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2019 12:57 am I missed this thread when I first signed up. It's a miracle that John Quincy Adams lived 80 years despite being prescribed pet meds his entire life.
