Why do they only have one designated challenger for Friday's episode and two alternates? I thought they had one alternate in case there is an episode with no winner or in case of a Priscilla Ball/Claudia Corriere scenario.
Good question. I think this was a new procedure and I don't know if they're still doing it.

I can only speculate why they're doing that. With one alternate the chance of them playing is something like 0.5%. It's probably weird to wait around all day knowing that. Having two alternates gives them more purpose to be there since there is a good chance they will play.
I had a dream that I was asleep and then I woke up and Jeopardy! was on.

The July 15 episode of the "Jordan, Jesse, Go!" podcast had author Sloane Crosley as a guest. Starting at about the 8-minute mark, they spend a few minutes discussing her recent appearance in a "Jeopardy!" clue (It's Kind of a Funny Story for $1,200), and the fact that the show misspelled her name.

No information in the article on who will be doing which types of episodes.
Sounds like they are guessing, so they can say they 'called' it first, while being as vague as possible.

"Syndicated" implies the regular episodes.

I think the special tournaments are on ABC

This probably doesn't count as "in the media," but last night, two of my favorite TV subjects converged: Jeopardy! and the Real Housewives universe. Sanjit Das appeared on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills as the date of socialite Sutton Stracke. It was awkward...

I note that the J!MU (Jeopardy! Media Universe) has already begun its takeover by trying to tell me and my DVR that the shows coming up this week are NEW, even (in a nice development) naming the 3 stars (contestants) of the show. I find this slightly irritating since I'm going to have to cancel my series recording...Sorry, J!, you're not fooling me and I have other things to do this summer...

A cute story from 2019, in which author Megan McDonald writes about showing up in a clue on Jeopardy.

Former 'Jeopardy!' champion Austin Rogers weighs in on proposed rule change (CNN)

I'm not sure why Austin thinks the possible rule change (bonus for running a category) is intended to encourage contestants to take categories from the top down in order.

Man, I hope I make it on the current iteration of the show and avoid the coming Frankenjeopardy nightmare

That is what Michael Davies implied when he mentioned it during the podcast. They talked about a change in strategy when discussing it.

not sure about the category bonus, but it's been 20 years (how time flies) since the clue values doubled, so some way to get additional money into the game would be welcome. :|
