As long as we're discussing the Rockies, Coors Field has a particularly neat feature -- the seats are dark green, but the seats in the 20th row of the upper deck are purple -- those seats are at an elevation of 5,280'.

Definitely one of my favorite ballparks (up there with Wrigley and AT&T) and has an incredible view of the Rockies. You can see the purple seats here:alietr wrote:As long as we're discussing the Rockies, Coors Field has a particularly neat feature -- the seats are dark green, but the seats in the 20th row of the upper deck are purple -- those seats are at an elevation of 5,280'.

That reminds me, tangentially, about when they announced that the new team would be called the Nationals. I thought then and think now that the Washington Insiders would have been the perfect choice. And they could have had a mascot called the Wonk.Silverfox wrote:It seems that Washington has a hard time keeping its' senators in town.
It's sad when people pass up perfect opportunities because they take themselves too seriously.

Okay, have there been any "contestant who gets another try" with less than $200?opusthepenguin wrote:Technically, for any final score of $1000 or less you don't get to be called a "winner". Figured you'd have these numbers handy. I wonder how many of these went on to win more obey (like Dan) or had that as their entire winnings (plus prize or cash for second or third)Vermonter wrote:Here are winning totals ≤$1,000

No one comes back, three new challengers. That happened the second episode of the first season.
Also happed 2/7/2013 during a teen tournament semifinal. No one advanced from that group.

ISTR it was reported again they'll do a tiebreaker clue if a three way tie on zero happens again during a tourney semis. Which of course shouldn't happen again.DBear wrote:No one comes back, three new challengers. That happened the second episode of the first season.

There's another one you can add to the list: 4/22/88. Jeff Brown won that game with only $200 (That game in particular isn't in the Archive, but the next game on 4/25 is and he's introduced as champ with that amount).Vermonter wrote:Here are winning totals ≤$1,000

The pre-double era is more sparsely represented in the Archive. Here are a few ToCers who have done it in unarchived games.OrangeSAM wrote:Interesting distribution.Vermonter wrote:Here are winning totals ≤$1,000

Steve Rogitz game 5: $800
Stephen Lebowitz game 4: $100*
Cathy Boggs game 4: $100
*Stephen Lebowitz won his $100 tied with Jimmie Bucci. They both lost the following game, so Jimmie's $100 is the lowest amount ever taken home by a J! champion.
edit: two more non-ToC low winners. Steven Rapkin has been cited as a champ who won $101 (I vaguely remember seeing this, I think). And last year, in the "new old" thread, rmfromfla helped confirm a memory I had of a man named Addison who had dreadlocks and won small: Addison Goodson won $700 in 1993.
edit again: it took someone quoting me for me to notice I'd spelled Lebowitz two different ways. I hate when that happens (noticing my error when I'm quoted, I mean).
