Steven got a $10k win on Thursday's show despite writing an incorrect answer on the deciding question. He wrote Anna Geddes when the photographer's name is Anne Geddes. He said Anne when he spoke his answer out loud, curious if the show has actual rules on this, you'd sure think what you write should take precedence over what you say.

The game glitched when Muffy explained the Emperor’s New Clothes question.

At the time the scores were 100-300-300, but when the camera zoomed out from Muffy, the scores read 500-300-700.

The 2nd round was only who rings in first gets to write an answer, while last week it was everyone gets to write an answer and score.

ryan has already played more this season than all of last season.

Seems like this was an early taping in the season as they started with the Season 1 and 2 rules.

So, did they start the season off with the old rules and then switch to 'everyone gets to answer' later on?

yes, i believe it was just the first four episodes. i very much prefer getting a chance to answer all the round 2 questions, so i was very happy with the change. :)

And we prefer seeing you answer more questions as well.

But for God's sake, does she HAVE to repeat the rules every. single. round. for. every. single. show.?

Tuesday was a rough episode, from the 3 players all stumped on "1847 Charlotte Bronte novel", all 6 players stumped on Palmyra, (granted that's a very hard question), a brutally ugly h2h contestant round, (The Kennedys meeting in Missouri!) and and then both Masterminds stumped on the Beanie Baby name.

Yeah, the Bronte stumper had me wondering if any of them had Wuthering Heights for a sister mix-up or what else could have caused that to go 0/3 on the player side.

My favorite part of the ep. was the last question's answer being apt for the result with the M*A*S*H finale word.

Wuthering Heights was also 1847. More people than you think do not have their Brontes straight.

I wouldn't expect every contestant to know Jane Eyre. I would expect at least 1 out of 3. And wasn't the subtitle "An Autobiography" given in the question? Points strongly to a person as the title character, not a house.

What do you think the odds are that a contestant overthought the question and put down Shirley or Villette? ;)

Usually I don't care that contestant last names aren't given, but NYT crossword puzzle constructor Peter is tough detective work other than I can eliminate Wentz.

I'd guess Peter Koetters.

Spoiler for the episode on Wednesday, 2/1/23...
Spoiler
Kelly won her second episode, becoming the first "Contestant Master Mind." TBD what exactly that entails, but I'm delighted someone's finally done it.
