I've also been behind on watch episodes this season, but I think in the breakroom it was mentioned that Dave on 8/25's show somehow has been on 13 or 14 different game shows, and one of them was Jeopardy! in the 90s? I didn't really have time to ask him because that episode taped first that day.

Muffy, Muffy, Muffy, I know you were just pulling a famous baseball player's name, but Cal would probably have been the least likely player to have had a UCL tear.

As it happens, I was at the game where Cal broke The Streak. The lineup came up on the screen, and all of a sudden there was a strange noise coming from the crowd; I looked around to see what was going on, and then looked at the scoreboard and realized that it was over. Then he got a very long standing O as he went to the bullpen.

Yeah, because he was in the lineup at first and the scoreboard showed him there, but then shortly before the start of the game he decided that was the time and told the manager to pull him.

I was either watching this game on TV or they cut in to it, but I remember the Yankees coming out of the dugout to give him a standing ovation.

in fact, i under-remembered it. it was an "i know i've heard the 'this brazilian architect...' trivia in the past, but it's just not coming" situation.

i definitely knew the ogden nash poem was an ogden nash poem, but i don't recall ever having encountered the title before. i was a poetry major in college, but alas we did not cover much nash.

i have been replaying all of these misses since filming. i thought they were in different games. it came as a bit of a surprise to discover they were all in the same final.

I noticed this too. This show must have been at the end of the taping run. Her voice was probably shot from taping too many episodes in a row over their taping schedule. (They tape the whole season all at once if I am not mistaken). When my mother was on "Ready, Set, Cook" years ago on Food Network, the host spoke very softly to the audience before the taping because she said she wanted to preserve her voice for all the tapings they had.

I thought she sounded subtly hoarse. She was powering through like a pro, so not something a casual watcher would pick up on, but I felt something was off.
