I got it with the TOM.
Bodil’s prize gave me a chuckle after I noticed he got J17.

From kingskip's DVDs I have entered Brad Plovan's 2nd game, December 12, 1995, vs. George Seymour vs. Claudia Grimes. This episode began with a short presentation on Jeopardy's partnership with the USO, and as such they played only 10 clues before the first commercial. Kingskip's DVD was missing the second segment, so placeholders have been added to make the scores add up correctly going into DJ!. Based on my math, it looks like they still got through almost all the J! round material. Fortunately, the Daily Double was played in that first segment.
It was mentioned that George was chosen from one of their USO contestant searches, and he played in uniform.
Note to Mark Barrett to check out that 1980s TELEVISION category in DJ!, especially the frustrating $400 clue:
Bugs me to no end that Brad chose one of the actresses from the pilots, instead of the Emmy-winning main actress, but what you gonna do?1 of the 3 women who played Chris Cagney, partner of Tyne Daly's Mary Beth Lacey
Note to future corrections suggesters, the quotation marks in BRITISH AUTHORS for $600 and $800 are both accurate as to how the show placed (or didn't place) them.Spoiler
Who are Sharon Gless, Loretta Swit or Meg Foster?
Is POTPOURRI for $600 mentioned in the musical?
Poor Claudia pulled out the correct response to the Daily Double at 12-LETTER WORDS for $400, but she tacked on an "s", making it 13 letters.
Jeopardy Pavlov time: "Army surgeon"
And finally, the Final Jeopardy clue is a Thing Worth Knowing:Spoiler
Who is Walter Reed? Expect a mention of "yellow fever" or "mosquitoes" or "hospital" in there as well.
In 1945 this Frenchman told his countrymen, "If I treated with the enemy, it was to spare you"Most recent appearance was this year's Teacher's Tournament finals. Eventual winner Jason correctly identified him.Spoiler
Philippe Pétain
More later, I hope.
I remember that FJ. I confidently went with the same incorrect (-ish?) response the contestants did, having learned of him via a Guinness Book. It was the first time I had ever heard of the correct response.OntarioQuizzer wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2023 11:49 am Courtesy games shared with Archivists, 1995-11-27 is now in the Archive: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=8026
John Lively, Alexandra Grochol, and Tim Adams.
Though Alexandra was presumably returned as a result of this Final, I have not added any errata, though I'm sure there was clearly some issue with the clue.
The game after a 5xer was retired was frequently a bit of a comedown, but Gwen made an impressive showing. It took a major come from behind by a 5xer-to-be to take her out.OntarioQuizzer wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2023 6:45 pm Courtesy games shared with Archivists, 1995-12-07: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=8031
