I found an article from 1987 about women on J! (and lack of success thereof) that acknowledges Barbara Lowe (without naming her), as well as the fainting incident. It's on these two pages of New Jersey's Courier-Post. I'll only quote the parts I'm alluding to (both on the second page), because I don't like the way a lot of things are phrased in the article. (Also, though written by a woman, it only quotes men.) (The second page also has an article by Greg Muntean, then a J! contestant coordinator, about how to get on game shows and be successful at them.)

The Barbara Lowe bit, quoting a producer on the subject:

This year, the most successful woman contestant won only three games. The year before that only one woman, a four-time victor, made it to the tournament. The sole female undefeated champion that season, a screenwriter-private detective, was disqualified for fibbing on her application, says a Jeopardy! spokesman.

"It was determined that she had been on more than three game shows and that's against the network ruling," says producer George Vosburgh. "Therefore, she was an ineligible contestant."

(I'm assuming "this year" refers to season 3; the season 4 ToC was the only one that had no women, and season 3's just had 4xer Beryl Arbit from "the year before," or season 2. There are three women in J! Archive recorded as 3x champs in season 3: Janet Stevenson with $15,100, Linda Williams with $19,500, and Meg Shreve with $29,799.)

And the part about the fainting, from the very end of the article:

It should also be noted that the only player to ever faint on the air was not a female suffering an attack of vapors. It was a man. He didn't win, either.

"He had been on a diet," says [Dave] Traini. "He hadn't eaten for three days and he passed out."

He must have forgotten that it's only a game.

Yeah, Square's had to be wrong. I decided to go with "Squares" to have the show's name in quote without wasting space for the apostrophe. Who knows, perhaps the video will surface some day.

Lynn Stark, Kim Nasser Jones and Michael Marks. Lynn is a lady, so could be Lynne? She likes hot air balloons for extra info to go with lawyer.

It looks like Lillian Hellman's "Scoundrel Time" might be a new title for the J-Canon, but her relationship with Dashiell Hammett has certainly come up before.

We also welcome the Hart-Kaufman-Hart-Rodgers musical "I'd Rather Be Right" to the J-Canon as a clue to FDR.

I like that FJ, even though I missed it. I had the right idea of

looking at the first names of the people named in the clue, but I thought they would form a name, so I went with the "Teals" (TEd + AL + Simon), thinking maybe it was just some old, forgotten vocal group with "Singers" in their name. I wonder how the get rate changes if Al and Simon precede Ted in the clue.

Another tie game archived. How many more are left that are known?

The audio DD reminded me of an episode of Face the Music when the bonus round played the song and showed a baby picture of Jimmy Carter. The contestant won the big bucks for getting it with the first song and first picture when usually it would require more pics of the famous person and more songs that provided clues.

By coincidence this game also had a Jimmy Carter clue, but the contestant called him James which was unusual.

Probably random? Not the only game with tying challengers, so what happened in other games with same scenario? Who had the most going into FJ! was probably not considered as a factor that mattered. I can't imagine that Bea getting DJ29 led to the champ's spot the next game.

Or it's one those Occam's things with B before J?

Upon further inspection of my "List of Tie Games" spreadsheet:

I'm aware of at least 10 tie games that aren't in J! Archive. Depending on when Ray Richmond's cutoff was, that number could be as high as 12. I know the specifics (the tied players and money won) of 9 of those games. Of those 9, 2 are in our entry backlog (1 video, 1 audio).

On the FJ! clue I matched Joe & Sara and spent the next 15 seconds to figure out the third one.

Extra info for Steven's last name is he was currently working for the Treasury.
