Chip Ritter, Janet Lorenz, Dennis Donohue game 2
Archivists: If you have a sec. listen to Chip's job as I'm not sure I have it right.
Another 5xer who needed some help as Dennis is done if Chip solves that gettable FJ! clue.

Re: New old games in the J! Archive
Thanks to games shared with Archivists, this game is now complete. (This also completes Tom Nosek's run.)MinnesotaMyron wrote: ↑Thu May 04, 2017 2:45 am http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=5632
And we have a partial game here, from Panonni's incomplete video, it's Tom Nosek game 1 (Most of the DJ round from it, anyway), November 3, 1992, vs Adele and Robin, whose full names we do not know.
Clue of the game will be Opera for $400.
To save her husband, Florestan, Leonore disguises herself as this young man in a Beethoven operaBeethoven + (only) Opera should be the first Pavlov an aspiring Jeopardy champ commits to memory, but you may not know that the title refers to a person's name, so this is a good clue to look at. (The second Pavlov an aspiring Jeopardy champ should commit to memory can be found in this game at Opera for $200. Go ahead and see if you can guess what that one is without any other hint.)Spoiler
Who is Fidelio?
FJ! is an interesting clue, without too much TOM (heh-heh). I think you just have to pretty much know it. (I did, thanks to the Book of Lists, I think.)
The remaining games to be entered from the lists on page 150 of this thread are the December 1986 games with the confused airdates, and a bunch of games from the later part of Season 18, some of which are possibly also on the tape Mark Barrett has cued up and has called dibs on.We'll see which batch I turn to next.

So, I hear "transfer recordist" which a cursory Google tells me is a sound technician job. Definitely would line up with an "originally from" player.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 4:55 pm Courtesy games shared with Archivists, 1992-12-03: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=8667

Phil Brown, Cherie Brown, Linda Sheppard (neé Brown) game 2.
Myron, here's the MORE MOOSE POTPOURRI we've been looking for.
I think Phil played the last minute strategy-wise about as well as could be expected.

Jack Mahoney game 1, Tom Regan, Joe Santora, Jr.
Joe came in with 12R 10W. Welp.
Overall, 17W was very high for this era. Definitely not a merry Christmas!
Also...with this game's entry, we are now 100% certain that Matthew Weiner did not air in December 1992, despite his saying "December 1992" in interviews.
I am now left to conclude that December 1992 was his tape date—which would then put his air date at some point between March 22 and April 30, 1993.

Fight for a narrow lead and then can't convert a FJ! clue your opponents get. Hmm... deja vu all over again.

5/5 on "MY" TV, but I had to think a sec on the $400 clue.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2023 5:50 pm Courtesy games shared with Archivists, 1993-01-15: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=8674

Re: New old games in the J! Archive
Well done. Those two bottom clues weren't within my reach.

I got the top four. Never heard of the bottom one. CBN ran the fourth one (along with a few other old sitcoms) on late nights in the 1980s.
Don’t think the wrong FJ response was Catholic.
Re: New old games in the J! Archive
I don't remember what prompted me, but I recently watched an episode of the $500 clue. I had fond memories of the series since it had a unique aspect, but it was pretty meh.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2023 5:50 pm Courtesy games shared with Archivists, 1993-01-15: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=8674

John Adams, Katie Dunwoody, Harry Koga
Was this the first time Alex went "on location" for a video clue? (RKS - you know where to find the screenshots)
FJ: Oh, what might have been in this one.

Elizabeth Winter, Nancy Melucci, Michelle Rottner
Math fans were close to being happy with GEOMETRY played first, each player scoring and a DD bet to the max, except that DD was missed.
The FJ! clue miss would have been a poll option and each person (not me) falling for it would have hated checking the box.

Israel Yarchun, Victoria Bassetti, Lillian Bosworth
Israel was part of a USO contestant search, and being the first one from the search, we got the usual photograph montage.
Other than that, a garden-variety S9 game.

Re: New old games in the J! Archive
Andy, here's a question about this episode, is this episode the first regular game to use new camera angle shots, as seen in the inaugural Celebrity Tournament and the 1992 TOC? In other words, the first chosen non-Daily Double clue of the segment is now chroma-key instead of the usual zoom-up and we see the entire set with the lights dimmed after the FJ! answer was finished read. We know the white light beams debuted in the Season 9 Premiere episode when the lights get dimmed meanwhile.AndyTheQuizzer wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 1:48 pm Courtesy games shared with Archivists, 1992-12-21 (#1911): https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=8677

Camera shot after FJ! was read was over-the-shoulder of the contestants looking toward the main game board. Lights began dimming shortly after shot switchover. Israel a southpaw.Ivoryface86 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 3:01 pm we see the entire set with the lights dimmed after the FJ! answer was finished read

Re: New old games in the J! Archive
Lights dimmed was first witnessed on Super Jeopardy!, the one-time Summertime event and the first time the lights were dimmed in the regular games was the week prior to the 1990 ToC.
