Alan Sperber, Bruce Hamilton, Bev Schwartzberg game 2.
Interesting situation for Alan. He beats Bev by $1 on a sole get and if Bruce had bet the MSB of $4,801, he tops him by a dollar after they both miss.

I got this right but I would have guessed it started earlier than that. My first guess was

This is always the case under the two conditions of third place having exactly half of the leader and second place being closer to third than the leader. (When second place is closer to the leader, they swap places relative to third place's score; i.e. third place has a wager that will beat second by $1 on a sole get and stay ahead of the leader by $1 if they both miss, provided first and second each make the MSB.)

This is the second time in J! Archive that that particular project has been a TS in Final Jeopardy. Well, maybe "triple neg" is more apt than "triple stumper"—one person in 1986 got it but but didn't write "What is" (and won anyway).

Chris Bennington, Peter Fish, Al Lin

Only 2 TS clues and should have been just one. 57R but 3/6 on wagering clues.

I don't know how granular Matt Carberry wants to get with his "Specificity" section in his case book, but the rule enunciated by Alex in HISTORIC NAMES $800 seems interesting and maybe not always followed.

Contrast with THE MIDDLE AGES $100 in Doug Molitor game 3, and, even more on point, EMPRESSES $600 in Lucien Schmit game 2.

The rule was followed in Leszek Pawlowicz game 1 (MEDIEVAL EUROPE $400), 1992 Teen Tournament quarterfinal game 3 (PEOPLE IN HISTORY $1000), and Maria Wenglinsky game 2 (DOGE CITY $2000).

Bev had a tie in her fourth game; I imagine it wouldn't have happened if Mary had gotten FJ right and made a tie happen in Bev's third game.

John Clark (was kinda surprised he was the first in the archive with that name), Susan Loring, Al Lin

Only 1 TS and with many other sets of players it would not be a stumper.

Solid stat line for Al in his four games archived.

This is correct.

Deborah Yaffe, Don Meade, Al Lin #4

That completes Al's run and gets another tie game archived.

Michael Lemkin, Merle Lawrence, Ed Schiffer #4

That completes Ed's run in the archive and like Al Lin, a respectable stat line for the five games.

Another 5xer who needed to catch a break to get the sweep. Two clues and a DD left. Ed goes to the $200 clue which Michael gets and leaves DD3 to him to take the lead.

Easy FJ! clue if you know who the poet is and good luck picking the right city if not.

Strange he offered a tie in his fourth game but not his fifth.

THE AMERICAN FLAG $500 is long outdated, the 50-star flag now having flown 64 years.

It's fitting to have entered a game about THE CHINESE ZODIAC on today, Lunar New Year. 过年好!

Eric corrected Alex during chat time (see note on contestant page) and as a result, perhaps, was the only non-champion in this game. But it at least makes our Archive contestant data slightly more accurate.

I matched Eric for a bum Final while Linda had the sole solve for a come-from-behind win from third.

The new champ has a TV character famous name.

Rick orders a pizza in 1993 and it will be there in about 30 minutes.

Later in the 2010s: Yeah, sure, you're Rick Grimes. And I'm Negan.

Linda wins a second time, this time from the lead. I'm curious how well this Final plays today.

For the second game in a row, there was a Star Wars clue; this game aired on the tenth anniversary of the release of Return of the Jedi.

Here's the "peel me a grape" clip.

I thought the Final was a bit of a slam dunk but the contestants didn't.
Spoiler
The Library of Congress doesn't appoint the librarian, the president does so with the advice and consent of the Senate (2 U.S.C. § 136–1).
This finishes off a small gap in the Archive as #2024 was entered back in early May 2013.

It did not hit me until today that I forgot to mention that Susan's chat was about appearing on the Fleming version of J! She remembers missing a clue about Brazil and she had done her graduate work on Brazilian studies. Yeah, that will stay with you.

Dave Gordon, Ann Carter, Ray Agran

What a negfest! At least the names were easy to type over and over again.

Dave was brought back after being incorrectly ruled incorrect on some clue in this game: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=8763

I gave him the same played id number instead of making a new one although he went from attorney to lawyer for whatever reason.
