Jonathan Oren vs. Anne Sommers vs. Chuck Wessel
Brutal game to archive with audio only and generated transcript can only help so much. The numbers are okay, but there is still some clue wording off that I will work on sometime bedtime tonight to try to fix.

Right category name for that audio DD.
Uncle Alex at DJ1 after giving the catgories.
Not the only time it happened in early seasons, but it needed to stop in ending the think music early with responses complete. Especially when a player was not correct.
Janice was a character and the things I noted when archiving can't compare to watching her. It started before the game as I had to get the contestant picture of Lisa from chats as she barely walked out and Janice must have said something to keep Lisa from looking out to give the chance at a capture.

If you thought James Dean's middle name was tough, you're gonna love the DD at DJ20. We welcome them to the J-Canon, but I'm not gonna spoil it until you all've had the chance to look.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Fri May 26, 2023 6:22 pm Courtesy of the National Archives of Game Show History I added 5/22/86: https://j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=7986

- Yes, the 5th category in the J! round was rendered that way.
- You can definitely tell how judging has changed over the years. J20 and J22 would have been insta-negged today; I was shocked by the BMS on DJ8 but I guess it flies.
- DJ24: Yes, Alex did say it five times.

This was the first of many episodes where WEWS in Cleveland ran advertisements in the local papers advertising local contestants. However, this absolutely threw me for a loop when putting the Season 1 puzzle together—because WEWS was a week ahead of the rest of the country. Essentially, when the rest of the puzzle got filled out with information, I learned that the information in the Akron Beacon Journal and Cleveland Plain Dealer was not definitive for dating episodes.
Otherwise, this was a good game. Aggressive Daily Double betting as well.

Re: New old games in the J! Archive
I always thought it was that WEWS was on schedule and L.A. was a week behind. I know WEWS premiered on the correct date (9/10). How did WEWS get ahead of schedule? Where did they miss a week of games?

Re: New old games in the J! Archive
I don't know—but they skipped a week somewhere. KCBS in LA started a week late (and only aired the first five weeks) but when KCOP picked it up in January, KCOP was airing episodes on the correct date. Basically, the post-Jeopardy! movies airing on KCOP match up with the "correct" airdate; by way of example, "Episode 100" aired in LA on the 100th weekday if you count 9/10/84 as "weekday #1".Robert K S wrote: ↑Sat May 27, 2023 11:58 amI always thought it was that WEWS was on schedule and L.A. was a week behind. DJ21: Agreed with the judges, that was not a well-pinned clue.
Paul really had the STAYing CLAM thing figured out.

J3 had me unable to make out the first city. I heard ___nberg.
J10 is a classic miss when a contestant is glad to be on before social media.
J22 had me unable to make out the city. I heard ___lden.
Ah, the memories evoked by DD1.
Like many others here would do, I had both for the FJ! clue.

Yeah, it was very much of its time. You had to be there. And not just in an infant sling enjoying the swaying motion as Mom moved the control stick.Robert K S wrote: ↑Sat May 27, 2023 3:39 pmAs a 1980 baby, I have none, so the song must have been a flash in the pan.
